This is probably a stupid question, and I'm sorry in advance.
I haven't bought anything from e-bay in quite a while, but a friend suggested I check there for an extra wii remote, and I found one I want to buy, but when I go through the link on e-bay to pay with Paypal, it keeps prompting me to link a credit card to my Paypal account, and won't let me go any further until I do. I REALLY don't want to do this. Is this a recent change? I always paid with Paypal in the past, and it was deducted from my checking account.

I've used PayPal for years and years and have never ever provided my banking information to them (and I never will), but I've always used my credit card. I figure that my credit card has a lot of consumer protections built in against fraud, my bank account, not so much. If my credit card is used fraudulently, a phone call to the issuer takes care of it. If they get into my bank account, I'm screwed.
