I was just on ebay and I couldn't believe what I saw for sale.

DCL vacation video- isn't this free if you call and ask for it?

Luggage Tags- the cardboard tags that you are given for disembarkment You can pick up the set at guest services for free. They will pay for the s & h if you get it!

2 disney soda mugs for $20 used in Aug.- It states in the info that you can use these for unlimited sodas. Isn't this a little unethical since you need to have the sticker on your card?

DVD of the Disney shows-It states that Housekeeping Disney does not view this as illegal. Who is HD? It also says that the person who gave it to them had Disney's permission since this was before DCL had the no video taping rule. hmmmmm?

I don't bid on anything on e-bay, but I am amaxed at what people will try to sell.

well in my opinion purchasing used mugs is the same as just stealing the soda outright.

I've seen the free sample shampoo's and lotions for sale, as well as a piece from the seats in the theatre. One person was also selling the little prints you get free from attending the Navigator series. Yes, some people are amazing. On the other hand, I have purchased several things from ebay. The book Making of the Magic is a wonderful book, and some travel agent posters.

I still have my mugs from 1999, but would never think to reuse them!! This year, I got the package, but only the sticker, I did not want to have to lug the mug around.

It is pretty sad that people will stoop to selling items that can be obtained free, AND that people don't know enough not to buy them.

Selling the mugs won't get the people free soda, though, they will need the sticker on their KTTW card. If they are advertising it as getting the person free soda then that is totally unethical.

I liked the $1.00 "RARE" box of matches:p :p :p They are free from the bars!

Steve

Oh and don't forget $ 3.00 S&H:rolleyes:

I saw someone auctioning off the cruise brochure/booklet thing you can get for planning..and they had started it at $5.95 and had a bid!

first of all, i've made some great DCL purchases on ebay - book on making of the Magic, framed pin set and others. these were from wonderful sellers.
Sorry to say...there are those that will 'take advantage' of others...face to face, on the phone and through the Internet. Selling DCL items picked up for free or stolen off the ship have been offered on ebay...since ebay/dcl started - 1998 (hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong). I've seen these types of items since becoming an ebay member in 1999.
In yesterday and today's market...someone is willing to sell anything someone is willing to buy. Should you be unsure about an ebay purchse...post it on these boards...am sure all the 'fine people' here can offer advise.

I contacted the seller of the DCL mugs. I just heard beck from her. Here is a copy of the e-mail:

Hi Mary,

Thank you for your e-mail. After checking into this I found that you are correct. My husband bought the mugs for my boys and I did not realize a tiny sticker was placed on their cards. I have contacted the bidder, cancelled the bid and taken the item off e-bay.

Thanks for your concern!

While I am willing to give the benefit of doubt that she didn't know:rolleyes:
The word BUSTED seems to scream out of my keyboard:p :p

It is unfortunate that people sell these free things on eBay. I am sure there are a lot of other non DCL things that people are selling that can be obtained for free. I guess they wouldn't be selling these things if people weren't buying them. I personally love eBay. I do some research before bidding so I don't buy stuff that was free to the seller. Maybe next we will be seeing people selling the towels that mysteriously jump into their suitcases at hotels.

DH searches Ebay at least once a week for the Banana boat toy . . . hasn't found it yet!

It's always a great source for pin collecting.

Before our first cruise I found information on ebay and unfortunately purchased it. I think I spent $10 for sample navigators, port information, excursion information, etc. Boy did I feel like a fool when I found these board and DCL Tribute and CastawayClub's sites! I'll always be a little bit skeptical now!

Ebay can be a wonderful source for finding items that you may have difficulty finding or for finding items at a lower cost. My family has been shopping on Ebay for many years and have always had good experiences. I just recently bought two Mexican style dresses for my DDs to wear on our cruise. The dresses are beautiful and the girls love them. We feel that as long as you do your research before bidding on an item you should do okay. There is always the chance of getting burned but I think that for the most part, the majority of sellers are honest.

One ebayers trash is another ebayers treasure!

Some people probably just like to buy mugs, etc..to use them at home, not necessarily to take them on a cruise and try and use them to get free pop! And then again I'm sure there are people who WOULD try and use them on the ship! You just never know!
There are lot of things on ebay people are willing to pay for because after all, it's MUCH cheaper than booking another cruise! For example the shampoo and lotions! Some cruisers REALLY like them and would probably love to see them on ebay for purchase!
Others just collect things like that!
You can't assume everyone selling stuff is a bad person and everyone buying the stuff does not know any better!
Just my opinion!

:D

just got looking at ebay and i saw a stolen bed spred go figure. and the rare matches are a joke. i look every few days to see if i can find a castaway club towel or bag. incase they stop the program LOL thanks

Thanks Relling Twin for clearing up the mug selling.

I agree that there are many good things on ebay. Obviously I was looking for a good deal or something interesting.

I guess I don't understand how people can sell some of these things that they paid nothing for. The people buying them might not know that you can call for a free video or download a navigator. I just feel that this is taking advantage of someone.

I guess it goes along the way I feel about crime. I don't understand why people feel it is ok to do things that hurt others. I must be lucky to have been brought up this way. Maybe I'm a little naive (sp?). I don't understand why people have to be mean or deceitful. Like the mean person who keyed my car all the way around why I was at a game (only a 100 ft away!). Even though I have insurance, it still cost me $200 out of pocket and my insurance went up.

Oh well, life is not fair!!

We sent an email to the person who has the mugs up for sale. Not only is it unethical, but the mugs are worthless without having the drink package sticker on your kttw card. We also found it hilarious that someone was attempting to sell the cardboard luggage tags. Why would anybody want to buy something that you can grab unlimited amounts of while onboard.
