Karl, glad your folks are ok, it seems to happen all the time to Ca, but in scotland it always looks really bad and it is diff to judge the news as they do like a story with good/bad pictures to go with it.

You work in clearwater. I cant get my head around that. clearwater beach is one of my most fav places in the world, we were just talking abot that last night.

my parents who live in SYLMAR , had their house burn. fortunately it only destroyed the garage...which was attached to the house.

you lot are hilARious! i am looking forward to meeting you all. We have been watching the fires on the news over here (Australia)- gearing up psychologically i guess, for what looks to be a long, hot, and tinder-dry summer at our place. Our water reserves are now the lowest they have ever been and it looks like we are going up another notch on the water restriction list. sigh. There are some amazing photos of the skys above disneyland over the weekend. well anyway, just to say that our thoughts are with all the CA's living with the fires right now.

okay I feel a challenge coming on....I have one more gift to buy, but I'm waiting on my Amazon rewards to come sooonnnnnn to place that last order for an iPod for my DD and then I'll be done too!!!! It's a good feeling not having to stress over this. Also we are travelling to WDW for Xmas with a huge family group 18 of us and then 5 of us are on the Magic over NYE so it was a requirement for me to be done way early so I could get packing

Congrats on getting finished. I'd like to do the same but doubt I'll get everything done since I'm working every day this week - including Saturday. I do have all of next week off.

I'm thinking of getting cheesecakes (or something similar) by mail order for two of my siblings and their families. It may save me money - otherwise I'd have to get 6 $20 gift cards.

Well Orlando you haven't seen me dance!!! Out on the dance floor DW just walks away from me. And, if anyone asks she claims she's never seen me before!!!!
Yep we live about 30 minutes from Clearwater Beach. It is one of our nicest beaches. We kinda of like it. Today though it might be kinda cold. Got down around 40 last night. Everything on my poor ol' body is just about frozen. Thank goodness it's going to get up to around 65 today.
Well, it's that time.............time to get working. Ya'll have a great day.

How old did you say your granddaughter was? I felt so bad telling shaunie about us going on a cruise, promised all sorts to make it up to her. I feel sorry for myself too, we will really miss her ,first holiday for 12 years she will miss, weve taken her since she was a baby.In saying that we only seen her for dinner on the last cruise.

Oh and david,stop moaning about your weather It doesnt go down well when we are stuck in scotland!

I am also finished. I actually have my parents' gift to pick up, but I know what it is...I just have to go get it. DH has to get his father's gift but, otherwise, we're done. We're heading to WDW on 12/26 so that's our big gift this year.

And although I haven't posted much, I did want to mention that I have been thinking good thoughts for all that could use them right now.

Oh, and David...be prepared to perform for us all on the ship. I know that there is a Talent Show but I'm sure you could also take the floor in one of the clubs some night! It's probably too soon to start charging my video camera, right?

Then it's on to the University of Florida on the 10th and home on the 11th. And then it's back to the New England winter! Nope...I'm not going to think about that right now.

Christmas is coming???? Sometimes I am so unplugged. Commercilizim (and commercials) drives me crazy. We're scaling back this year (thinking of Barcelona) consolidating our family....one gift per person from the BOTH of us.

she is currently attending occidental college in eaglerock, ca. she is a jr.
and this trip is for my dd22 who has graduated from college at Humboldt state in nor cal..

Amsterdam! How exciting. I wish I had gone abroad for a semester in college. I went to WDW and did the College Program though...so it's all good! And congrats to your other DD for graduating!

DD16 is just starting the college search process. She has visited WPI and RPI (both engineering/science colleges) as well as UMass/Amherst. We're visiting the two Florida schools in January and then will take a College Tour road trip during her spring break in March. We'll also do a couple of day trips to Boston to look at schools there and she would like to visit NYU as well. She would like to go into medicine or stem cell research so she's focusing on colleges that are strong in the sciences. I think she'd love to look at some California schools, but I know that she'd have a hard time going so far away. I know that I'm going to miss her terribly, no matter how far away she goes.
