You know, I just might do the same and downgrade to an 11 or 10. Probably a 10 as I have to have a split bathroom.

Hi everybody,
I hope that you do not mind me joining in on this thread. We have not booked this cruise as yet, but we are pretty sure that we will join you. The question is just when and how we book this.
We are Corinna (35 at time of cruising) and DH Graham (51 at time of cruising) and we live in the northwest of England. This will be our 4th cruise (3rd on the Magic) with the 5th cruise booked for the Westbound transatlantic. When the cruises came out, I was leaning towards the Eastbound, but the (hopefully) better weather and the two Caribbean ports on the Westbound won out. I work for an airline and have access to the fare structures of all major airlines prior to the fares going on sale and we noticed that a oneway from Orlando to Manchester is more than twice as expensive as a return ticket that is valid for up to 12 month. Add to that, that we still have to eat and drink at home as well and we will break just about even if we go for a category 11, which is our favoured category anyway.

Morning to everyone....We are in full swing on planning our DCL wedding...It's going to be small just like we wanted...I have a simple floor length dress, and he's wearing a cream shirt with khakis...Simple yet nice enough for a tropical wedding...

I see we have more people joining us on this cruise and we have lost a few along the way! The more people cruising from DIS, the better...I just love the larger DIS groups on board...it seems like every corner you turn there's someone you know!!!! I love that feeling!

Anyone have any big plans for the weekend??? We are just doing the usual, cleaning and preparing for Monday and the week to start over again! I'm debating if I should go to work today of give my neck(pinched nerve) another day to heal...Its starting to feel better, but still sore, and I dont know what to do!!

Well, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Hi,

We just booked this trip last week - My husband and I are from Massachusetts, and we are very excited about this crossing. Any other MA people going? Me - 53, and my husband 60 - seems so far away, but I know it will fly by.

Morning everyone - been gone because of having pneumonia - which I have never had and feel like I will never totally get over it. Hubby was home from Iraq for Christmas and had to end up staying extra time to take care of me and help with the kids. Everyone assures me it does go away.

Hope everyone had a wonderful Chritmas and New Years - sorry to see some people leaving but hello to all the new people.

I see there has been talks about categories and upgrades - we have cruised 3 times - gotten upgrades 2 times but always book the category we are cool with and if we get an upgrade it is just part of the magic but will not spoil our trip if we do not get one. We also will not be to the port early to try for an upgrade - I am not a morning person.

I keep adding items to my cruise box - I found last time with 3 of us doing secret mickey and waiting till the last minute it really was more money than I had planned BUT this time I am getting little things that I can mix and match depending on who we get and then buy a larger personal gift at WDW or on the cruise. I also already have several things for FE and little gifts for my children during the cruise!

In addition I am taking things with us we have had on other cruises - such as our lime green t-shirts, mickey crocs, disney cruiseline robes, and other things we already have that we can "reuse" for this cruise - this is my way of cutting back - still going on the cruise but rethinking how I will do somethings like this. That said I am still willing to pay for my water on board as I do not want to drag it around and am willing to pay not to have to.

I am getting excited even though it is still a while off.

on a side note I am up to having lost 20 pounds since the May Repo - slowly but constant which is good - only problem is all my wonderful cruise clothes I have (linen pants, tops, capri's, etc. are too big now - so either I have to have them taken in or buy new clothes)

And I saw some people talking about it being cold some but I had already figured it would be and we are going to bring clothes to layer - because we will be in Disney the week before and possibly in Switerland the week after the cruise so I figure layering and some good silkly thermal underware is the way to go!

Hi again,
Sorry I tend to lurk more than post - but I do so enjoy reading the posts. I'm hoping for an upgrade like everyone else, but will be happy with my cat. 11 if not. I didn't think an extra 1000 was worth getting a cat. 9 when I can use that money to fly home. Sailing solo stinks when it comes to the price of the cruise.

I'm going on a 3 nighter on 2/5 as I've never cruised with DCL before. I finally got my room assignment this past Wed. and I got an upgrade!!! I went from a 12 to a 9 :cool1: . I can't wait - I'm looking forward to exploring the ship.

Sounds like several people have gotten pneu. I'm thankful I only got a really bad sinus cold on Christmas - still have just a bit left. Krisann, I hope you were able to enjoy spending some time with your hubby while he was home even though you were sick.

time to go - going to the zoo today and then off to pick up the last couple of things for my 2/5 cruise FE.

Kristi

Hey Kristi -

Have a great time today and you will find that we are a VERY friendly group - some know each other from other cruises and others we are meeting for the first time. The best thing is by the time the cruise comes, we will ALL be friends.

You will definately enjoy your cruise!!! Enjoy... I am jealous that you will be going so soon!!! :goodvibes

Hello to All

We will be cruising with you. This will be our 9th DC and we are excited. Cruising with no kids (1 in college 1 in HS) so it will be a little wierd for us. Did we miss anything cool in the previous post's? Im sure I will read them all between now and the cruise.

Hi everyone!
I think I just decided tonight I am going to book this! The price is so good and we just got back from a western caribbean cruise and loved it! I booked on board for an eastern, but I think tomorrow I will be calling to switch over.
I am concerned because my daughter will be in her first year of highschool, but I am thinking she can bring some work on the cruise.
So talk me into it!

Welcome!!!!

Just so you know there IS internet service on the ship just in case she has to do any of the work and turn it in - I don't think there is a scanner though...

Alot of kids did some school work and/or projects on the PC Repo cruise in May (we even had a special teacher with us (one of our beloved cruisers...:goodvibes :goodvibes ))

Thanks! Yes we did use the internet this past trip, but it was for me to check in with work and family.
I am 'this close' to booking, but I have to admit I am thinking about 6 full days on the ship and as much as I loved the ship and loved our sea days - SIX DAYS?!?
Has anyone on this thread done this type of cruise before? And furthermore, would we be crazy to take an inside cabin for this length of time? I have to wonder how warm/cold the balcony area would be at this time of year in the middle of the ocean anyway? I have a LOT of reading/catching up to do and figure all of this out!

I notice cat 11 is gty only. I really want to book a stateroom number. Was cat 11 ALWAYS gty on this cruise?
So many questions....so much reading to go do!

ps. My daughter will be 2 weeks away from being 14 on this cruise, so will be in the stack (no way will she go to ocean quest - she wasn't impressed last week) - any others on this thread with kids that age?

We had an inside cabin on the PC WB cruise this past May and I was worried about it as we had never had an inside BUT it worked out just fine. We found a nice home away from home in Diversions where we would go to play games, sit and talk, etc. during the day. Other times we found places on Deck 4, or other decks - but we really were so busy doing things that we did not mind not having the window/balcony - and we are able to sleep in easier :) and we enjoyed using the money on other things during the cruise.

UGH I just called to book this and can't right now. I had booked a dummy cruise for Jan 2010 before I left on my cruise 2 weeks ago, so I could get the half price deposit and switch everything over on the ship really quick and easy, which worked nicely. I booked for Feb 13th 2010 and got my discounts and OBC.
So I call and figure I can get the same half price deposit and she asks for a $1200 deposit!!! Well it would be $950 because I did $250 on the other cruise.
I don't have that 950 right now - I pay off my cruises a bit at a time.
So now I have to wait to book until I have $950 to deposit with.
I won't ever use credit cards unless I have the $ to pay them off within a week.
So then I say 'well I will keep it as is' and she says 'oops i already changed it', and then she rebooks the old cruise back for me and now they need a $500 deposit because by cancelling and rebooking it took my half price deposit away.......
UGH so frustrating!! But we have decided that we are taking this cruise!!

Call back tomorrow and ask for a supervisor and explain what happened and see if they will honor the $250... they should since it was their fault.

I wouldn't worry about booking this cruise closer... it won't be fully booked and I think alot of people went Cat 11 that's why they are gty... (and are hoping (keep fingers crossed) for upgrades... ):upsidedow

We have done 8 cruises on the Magic so far and except for the first one we have always booked Cat 11 (changed to a Cat 12 once to save some money but was given a Cat 11). :goodvibes We will only book Cat 11 cabins.

I love sea days and look forward to the 6 days at sea. It would be just fine with me to be at sea for an even longer time. :hyper:

We booked this cruise while on the January 3rd Magic cruise and it was GTY then. I am not worried because we will get at least a Cat 11. :flower3:

We are .....BOOKED!!!! I got Disney to honor the half price deposit! Yay!! I have done so much reading already before making the absolute final decision to book. This will be my first time and my daughter's first time in Europe and a dream come true! I love that we can get a nice little 'taste' of Europe and get a feel for it before ever booking a big land trip over there (which we want to do in 2012).
So any other 13-15 yr old girls on the ship? My daughter will be 2 weeks away from her 14th bday on the ship and I will be celebrating my 38th on the ship (April 13th).
Yay!

I don't know when the half price ends, but what I did was book a dummy date for January 2010 at home with the half price. I rebooked on board for the discount and OBC for Feb 2010, and fully intended on keeping it. It transferred over and it kept the half price deposit. Then I saw the incredible price for this cruise and couldn't resist. They said since it was not a 'new' booking they couldn't apply the half price and they wanted $1200 right now. I emailed DCL and asked if there was any way of switching it (I emailed last night). This morning an email was in my inbox with it changed and honoring a $600 deposit! Now THAT is customer service!

Hey everyone - I think I have found a really good and cheap option for flying home...
http://www.aerlingus.com/cgi-bin/obel01im1/bookonline/index.jsp
You can book one way on there, and fly from Barcelona to NYC or Boston (no other US airports) for about $170 euros (about $220 USD), and then you can book your own flight from NYC to wherever...you may have to overnight in NYC, but for me it would work because we then have to fly to Seattle or Vancouver - another long flight.
I can usually get Sea-NYC for about $200, so I could fly home for a total of about $450 each plus an airport hotel.

Thought I would pass this along.
