(Don't forget secret deck 7.... :wave2: )

oh yeah, haven't been there will try it this time

We just sailed in an inside and I thought I might not like it, but it was cozy and quiet and we loved it! I would definately do it again.

Do you know if we can put a 'request' on a gty for an aft room? Or if we got to the port EARLY maybe we can change our room?
Or if we REALLY hate the room, do you think DCL would work with us on it?

you can always put in a request, if it is heard nobody knows :confused3

Hi everyone. :wave2:

I had (actually currently have) a 4-night christmas cruise booked for 2009 and ran across your thread (was at work, but needed a distraction):surfweb: . This sailing will be out on my birthday:cake: and is going to Europe and place I have never been, you people seem right up my alley (drinks :drinking1 and heated tile loungers), but the most important thing was when I priced this cruise on the DCL site it was only like 20 more than the 4-night ( I mean how can I pass up a bargin like this) :hyper: I know air fare will be more, but come on it is Europe and remeber it is my Birthday:bday: , right?

Anywho just saying hi. I am not offically booked as of yet. Just passed this information over to my TA this afternoon and I won't here back from her until Monday (she is taking some days off, ugh how dare she):crazy2: .

I am just hoping Nan gets a balcony so I can come crash her room!!!!! I can bring some spirits!

Ginamarie...

Do you still have the copy of the scavenger hunt from the PC cruise??? If you get a chance can you let me know or PM me and I'll send you my address or email...

Thanks...

PS... How's Sweet Cheeks doing???

(see...he's already got a knickname...:goodvibes )

I'm pretty sure I have them, because I save EVERYTHING, but all that stuff is still in bags in the basement for scrapbooking. I'll look for it when I get a chance, but being on maternity leave with a newborn and a two year old has be pretty tied up right now!

Hey everyone - I think I have found a really good and cheap option for flying home...
http://www.aerlingus.com/cgi-bin/obel01im1/bookonline/index.jsp
You can book one way on there, and fly from Barcelona to NYC or Boston (no other US airports) for about $170 euros (about $220 USD), and then you can book your own flight from NYC to wherever...you may have to overnight in NYC, but for me it would work because we then have to fly to Seattle or Vancouver - another long flight.
I can usually get Sea-NYC for about $200, so I could fly home for a total of about $450 each plus an airport hotel.

Thought I would pass this along.

I'm trying to load this site right now (very slow! :crazy2:) That is a very good price! :thumbsup2 Flying into NYC would be fine with us because it is only a 2 hour drive to Baltimore. Someone could pick us up and take us home. :drive: That is if we still live here in 2010  as work does move us from time to time. We'll know this May if we are moving. After that it is unlikely that we will move until after the cruise.

The web site for the airline would show me April 2010 but when I clicked on the date it gave me the price for April 2009. :confused3 It still looks like a good price so I am keeping the site in my favorites to keep track of it. :thumbsup2

Our DS and his wife are supposed to go with us on this cruise. Our plan is to stay in Barcelona a few days to sight see. :moped: I was there in 1974 so I'll bet it has changed alot.

I am at home this weekend watching over our dog who has been very sick lately. Today is a good day so far.:grouphug:

Hey everyone!
So now I am reading that deck 2 thread on the main board and freaking out!! All I want is my fave cabin 5131 and I would be a happy camper -but looks like that is not going to happen.
I can't justify $2000 more for a balcony -I had trouble justifying $1000 more for a window! But - that being said the extra room and storage will be good for 14 days.

So we have decided that we are going to get off the ship, fly to Paris and spend one night in Paris, and fly home from there - just enough time to take a quick peek - see the Eiffel Tower and shop. Maybe crazy, but Meg's dream is to go to Paris, and I figure if I am 'almost' there, it only makes sense. Meg actually wrote a school paper on her 'biggest dream' and she talked about going to Paris. Her teacher was so impressed with the paper that she gave her a notebook that she had bought in Paris and never used, and it had the Eiffel Tower on it - and put a note in 'Keep dreaming and it will happen!'.
I mean -HOW can I NOT make it happen?

I can get over to Paris for about 50 euros each on a one way flight, and then I figure about 150 euros for a 2-3 star hotel, and some touring. It might be crazy to spend 400-500 bucks for ONE night, but I am gonna do it!

I wish we could do a sidetrip once we get to Barcelona but my kids can only miss 10 days of school.

We are also fretting our room choice of a category 4. I know we will love the 4, we are in the same room as we were in for the EB PC Cruise. I wish I would have booked 2 category 9's and then worked for an upgrade of those two rooms at port. My kiddos are big and niether of them want to sleep in the upper bunkbed. Actually I think Logan is too oversized for it and it makes him claustrophobic to have his sister up there.

I can't change the people in our room without losing our cheap airfare. If I can find cheap airfare on my own I may change our rooms. We are going to do a 3 or 4 night cruise in Aug/Sept and plan on booking 2 category 12's. We have never cruised in anything but a 4 and want to try it out before commiting to 14 nights of it!

Lollipop Mom, are you up in BC? We are outside of Seattle.

Yes! Just over the Aldergrove border!
Where abouts are you? We come down quite often - my daughter's best friend's family moved to Arlington, so we come down to visit, or meet halfway in Bellingham.

Please don't worry about Deck 2! Having stayed down there for two weeks straight on our last cruise, I can tell you it's really fine!

I'd love to make it to Paris too, but with financial and vacation time constraints, I'm not sure we'll be able to swing any time in Europe after the cruise. It will be my first time in Europe. DH has been to Paris before, but that was like 15 years ago.

I am just hoping Nan gets a balcony so I can come crash her room!!!!! I can bring some spirits!

be careful you only get 1 bag and it can only weight 20K(44lbs) when you fly inside europe, before extra luggage charges take affect.. check with edna mode when they did the last T/A it cost like $600 in extra fee's..

You might want to check into taking the train to Paris. We did and it was wonderful. Also just a heads up - unless you stay at Disneyland Paris very few hotels in Paris have room for more than 2 people. We did find a Holiday Inn that was in a really cool converted castle or something - really old building (sorry it is late and cannot think) The name of it is Holiday Inn
PARIS-RÉPUBLIQUE and while it is not right at the attractions it is right beside a Metro station and it took us only about 10 or 15 minutes to get to where we wanted to go including waiting for trains. I really liked the hotel and would stay there again - we really liked the little cafe across the street. I looked up the price and for the same days in April 09 as you would do in 10 it is 224 Euros if paid in advance and 280 Euros per night with flexible (can cancel, etc.)

This was for us the best because it had 2 double beds and we all could share one room and not have to pay for 2 rooms.

I have to start figuring out where we are going to go after the cruise. We have been to Paris so we were thinking Switzerland or Scotland/Ireland. But oh to have a ham sandwich on baquet bread in France - oh makes me want to go just for that . . . . .
