We are .....BOOKED!!!! I got Disney to honor the half price deposit! Yay!! I have done so much reading already before making the absolute final decision to book. This will be my first time and my daughter's first time in Europe and a dream come true! I love that we can get a nice little 'taste' of Europe and get a feel for it before ever booking a big land trip over there (which we want to do in 2012).
So any other 13-15 yr old girls on the ship? My daughter will be 2 weeks away from her 14th bday on the ship and I will be celebrating my 38th on the ship (April 13th).
Yay!

Oh wonderful - my daughter will have just barely (in March) turned 15 for the cruise and she is really interested in having some pen pals (email/facebook of course) that she will get to meet. Will you be moving her up to the Stack or keeping her in Ocean Quest?

My son will turn 13 on the cruise.

My hubby will turn 39 the day before the cruise (hoping Disney will do the free birthday thing again next year). So it is a real birthday cruise for our family!

I think we have a kids thread for this cruise don't we? Have to look that back up.

Krisann

One bag each in Europe is fine for us - we can actually travel light. We can still have a carryon as well right?
I would rather fly, as it is quicker and we have limited time, as I don't want her to miss TOO much extra school.
The room we booked is almost across the hall from laundry, and my plan is to pack light and do a bit of laundry, which doesn't bother me. I am literally thinking of bringing 2 pairs of jeans each, 1 pair of dress pants, 1 dress, 2 pairs of shorts and 5-6 tops, 1 swimsuit/coverup and a hoodie -and thats IT. I would rather zip across the hall and do a quick load of laundry every 4 days than drag too much luggage.
We overpacked on our last cruise. We ended up just dragged down by the weight of our luggage and I said never again!

I am going to pm you my daughter's info so they can 'meet'. My daughter has msn/facebook/email. I plan on putting her in the stack - she is a mature 12 and would have been happier there than OQ when we went 2 weeks ago.

Don't forget you will need a few warmer things or some type of jacket - they are saying it can be cold on the cruise going over and some places in Europe is still not very warm in late April. Here is the average temps for Paris in April:

The April Thermometer
Minimum temperature: 7 degrees C (44.6 degrees F)

Maximum temperature: 15 degrees C (59 degrees F)

Average temperature: 10 degrees C (50 degrees F)

Average rainfall: 45 millimeters (1.78 inches)

You may know all this but I was not thinking that way till someone pointed it out earlier :) so I am planning on layering everyone - and doing laundry like you because I do not want to be dragging so many suitcases either.

Hubby laughs at me for already planning some of the outfits and things for the cruise that is still over a year away!

I spent 15 days in Australia this past June. I took 3 jeans, one pair black pants, 4 tops, 3 or 4 sweaters and one pair shorts. All that, my pillow and suveniors fit in one suitcase. I barely made weight limit for US domestic - I blame the bottle of wine - ;)
I'll probably take similar numbers of items since I'm hoping to go up to London for a couple of nights before flying home. I'd like a chance to finish visiting the Tower of London and hit a few other spots as well.

There are 4 of us and I am really hoping that we can get all our stuff into 3 with one extra for "take home things"

since this is our 4th cruise I kinda have the "must have different outfit for every night" out of my system and am not afraid to wear jeans to dinner with a nice top. Will take something dressy for formal and semi formal nights but not to the degree we have before. Will have to get hubby's and son's suits into the bag but may go with just dress pants, shirt and tie for formal/semi formal - I can't remember is a jacket required for Palo or just a shirt and tie? I need to get my spread sheet back out for our clothes. We are also doing 3 days in Disney before hand and 1 week somewhere in Europe after - glad the ship has laundry service!

DH wore a shirt and tie for dinner at Palo and he was one of very few men who even wore a tie when we went.

I have the funniest story for you all - I woke up in a PANIC last night - I had been dreaming, but thought it was all real.
I thought "OMG I can't pack in only 2 suitcases - we still have to put the sleeping bags and pillows in!".
I had been dreaming this was a 'camping cruise' and you had to camp out and bring your own gear.
I was thinking 'OMG now we can't go to paris because I need to pack all that camping stuff too!'
Now this is very funny because I HATE camping - simply hate it with a passion and so does my daughter.
Hahahahahaha!!!

BTW -Anyone organizing the Fish Extender list??
I organized for the last cruise and don't mind doing it again if you would like.

Just let me know - I don't want to step on toes if someone else planned on doing it, or already was doing it.

This is our 9th and I too am past that "need". For this cruise I may rent my tux for the formal nights instead of bringing mine.:groom:

We have only done Palo's once for brunch and will probably not do it on this cruise either. The dining is what we really enjoy the most. Why spend more? :confused3

We will probably make use of the laundry as well. :laundy:

I am at home this weekend watching over our dog who has been very sick lately. Today is a good day so far.:grouphug:

how is the doggie now ????

Hey everyone!
So now I am reading that deck 2 thread on the main board and freaking out!! All I want is my fave cabin 5131 and I would be a happy camper -but looks like that is not going to happen.
I can't justify $2000 more for a balcony -I had trouble justifying $1000 more for a window! But - that being said the extra room and storage will be good for 14 days.

So we have decided that we are going to get off the ship, fly to Paris and spend one night in Paris, and fly home from there - just enough time to take a quick peek - see the Eiffel Tower and shop. Maybe crazy, but Meg's dream is to go to Paris, and I figure if I am 'almost' there, it only makes sense. Meg actually wrote a school paper on her 'biggest dream' and she talked about going to Paris. Her teacher was so impressed with the paper that she gave her a notebook that she had bought in Paris and never used, and it had the Eiffel Tower on it - and put a note in 'Keep dreaming and it will happen!'.
I mean -HOW can I NOT make it happen?

I can get over to Paris for about 50 euros each on a one way flight, and then I figure about 150 euros for a 2-3 star hotel, and some touring. It might be crazy to spend 400-500 bucks for ONE night, but I am gonna do it!

what a great idea...I'm almost wish Willie and I could tag along with ya for that adventure, but we've been to Dland Paris so I have no dire need to go again. It is WONDERFUL. And you and your daughter will have great memories. Every girl NEEDS to see Paris ;) remind me one more time how old is she??? Wilson will be 10. My daughter will be 13 that summer, but she is staying home, this is just a mommy/son trip.

My 2nd, my wife's 4th Disney Cruise.

We are very excited. Also bringing DS-8 who loves the Kid's Clubs.

will your son be 8 on the cruise, or is he 8 now??? My son is 8, turning 9 next month and will be 10 ATOC. Welcome aboard :cheer2:

just come and join robin and i for before dinner spirit's, out on the balcony of 8548 :dance3:

:worship: thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!pixiedust:

be careful you only get 1 bag and it can only weight 20K(44lbs) when you fly inside europe, before extra luggage charges take affect.. check with edna mode when they did the last T/A it cost like $600 in extra fee's..

karl

you know, I'm coming for a drink, or 5 :thumbsup2 :rotfl2: :rotfl2: I'll ask you before we leave again, but remind me what's your drinking pleasure???

OMG that is a NIGHTMARE isn't camp a four lettered word??? Where as SPA is not ;)

I hope that we can get a list of names and ages and such going soon for our group.

With other threads I've been on the OP has done this on everyone's behalf on page 1.

OP are you there???? Would you consider doing this for our thread please????

If not, I hope our next thread (when we hit 250 pages) creator can do this :thumbsup2

This is what's worrying me. We tend to be light packers, but the fact that we'll need the extra jeans, hoodies, etc... is going to make it difficult! On our last cruise, I easily packed all 8 of us into 6 suitcases (4 - 29" & 2 - 26") leaving plenty of room to bring back souvenirs. Ideally, I'd like to bring only 5 bags for this cruise as my oldest DD won't be joining us. I'm thinking my youngest will still be in the stroller at age 4.5... at least in the airports (and while visiting ports too) and it's hard for me to manage a bag while I'm trying to manage her! DH and the older kids can easily manage 1 bag each, so 5 will have to be our goal.

Wow! I'm sooooo envious! I want to go to Paris too! I really wish we could do something similar, but we have a week at WDW followed by a DCL Western this Fall. The kids will be missing 7 school days for that... and then an additional 9 school days for this cruise. I've told them they can't miss any more days - not even to get sick - during this next school year.

Hi everyone. :wave2:

I had (actually currently have) a 4-night christmas cruise booked for 2009 and ran across your thread (was at work, but needed a distraction):surfweb: . This sailing will be out on my birthday:cake: and is going to Europe and place I have never been, you people seem right up my alley (drinks :drinking1 and heated tile loungers), but the most important thing was when I priced this cruise on the DCL site it was only like 20 more than the 4-night ( I mean how can I pass up a bargin like this) :hyper: I know air fare will be more, but come on it is Europe and remeber it is my Birthday:bday: , right?

Anywho just saying hi. I am not offically booked as of yet. Just passed this information over to my TA this afternoon and I won't here back from her until Monday (she is taking some days off, ugh how dare she):crazy2: .

Welcome!!!

I'm pretty sure I have them, because I save EVERYTHING, but all that stuff is still in bags in the basement for scrapbooking. I'll look for it when I get a chance, but being on maternity leave with a newborn and a two year old has be pretty tied up right now!

If you come across it - great!!! Thanks much...

And are you getting any good sleep yet?

I hope that we can get a list of names and ages and such going soon for our group.

I'll keep an eye out - or else I may start another thread like Jan did for the 9/12/09 cruise... Whatever you want your Majesty... ;)

I don't think the OP ever signed up for this cruise. It looked like he was considering it so he started this thead.

I will be happy to give our info (ages when we cruise):

Me - Brack Jr (58yo)
DW - Annette (56yo)
DS - Brack III (35yo)
DDIL - Jennifer (34yo)

how is the doggie now ????

JoJo the DISDog (my nickname for him) is doing better but is still not well. He is after all a pure bred Minature Poodle that is almost 17 years old. ::yes:: He has outlasted the odds against him very well. I can only hope that I do as well. :flower3:

Thanks for asking. :grouphug:
