So, the kid next to yours has a handful of pencils and hour kid wants one and takes it. The kid isn't going to go bankrupt.I guess it is fine, judging by your standards. Someone walks by your yard and cups all of your tulips. You didn't need them, it doesn't affect you financially and if you really likes them you would put a fence around them...

In this case "why can't we get along" means quit picking on me for thinking stealing can be ok.

Eta, I had over 100 tulips stolen one night. Rumor has it the were stolen to decorate some little thieves wedding.

My kids wouldn't hide in shame. I wouldn't stuff my pockets or purse with the jelly but maybe make a sandwich. All of the main resort stores have basics. You don't even have to buy it at walmart. They have pb and mayo too for those whose kids need them.

How many jelly packets can you take if you have made a purchase in the food court?
And do you have to have bought something that requires jelly as commonly used, or does any purchase qualify you to use the condiment(s)?

If you march down to the food court with your loaf from home, sit the kids down, and go help yourself to some pb & jelly with some coffee creamers for drinks, then I personally think that is the same as taking it from the general store.

Now suppose you buy an order of toast and decide you would like some bacon on that, do you just help your self or do you buy it?

It's all about principles. Is there some rule book somewhere that says what is and isn't stealing or questionable usage of available resources? No, but there are general principles by which some people lead their lives. I personally do not agree with stockpiling hotel shampoos/lotions/soaps...I do know people who take them and then sell them on eBay. That is SO across the line, IMO! They are provided as a complementary perk/convenience.

When the economy is in a bad place, companies start cutting "freebies". Remember when you ALWAYS got at least a beverage and/or snack on flights? Now you're lucky to get a napkin. Oh, and you're welcome to rent a tiny blanket or pillow if you like, too.

Something tells me people arguing for eating jelly sandwiches with "free" jelly or people trying to say it's not that bad are also the people who whine about Disney not sending enough PIN codes or offering enough discounts/dates or only offering QS with Values/Mods or not having appetizers anymore. Disney is a business. Do they make gobs of money? Yes, judging by what I am paying for my next trip, they do. However, when a situation becomes no longer profitable, they change it. Keep acting in ways that might be perceived as abusing the system, and don't be surprised if the system changes to prevent it.

Disney is never going to become the “jelly police”; they will not embarrass anyone for the sake of saving a dollar or two. But that does not make it right for you to stuff your pockets with condiments because you think you are entitled to. Disney is an expensive place and if you think you’re affording your vacation by saving a couple bucks on food then you’re kidding yourself. Have a little class people, your kids are watching what you are doing and are probably a bit embarrassed (if they are old enough to understand).

Actually you should be the one reading what you write, I been around for a while and the things people suggest in the budget board to afford a Disney vacation are unbelievable. I can’t believe that YOU are so naive to believe that it stops at the jelly packets.

And we bring our own shampoo/conditioner

My guess is not many, so don't worry about it. I think that these amenities are included in the room price because many people would NOT stay onsite if there was no microwave available to them for use. Someone should email Disney and get some answers here!

With that being said, I eat about half my meals at the park and the other half at home so I stay OFFSITE so I have access to a microwave, stove, fridge and all that other good stuff
But really don't care what the others do as long as it's not directly bothering me. If it was a case where I saw them taking a purse full of jelly (much more than one person or family would use) then I would say something.

Also my guess would be that most people don't plan on using free jelly to make sandwiches (I hope that's not the case) but it's one of those things where the kid really wants PB&J and mom has bread and is improvising.. or something similar.

My dad used to do this ALL the time. The trips were with my mom, me, my DH and our daughter so it wasn't like we were a young family struggling to make ends meet. Finances were not a problem for my dad, he was just into "beating the system". I was completely embarrassed!

Now that my dad is in the final stages of Alzheimer's, I'd personally go make him that salad from the condiment bar without batting an eye, just to have him with us on another trip. Sorry to hijack the thread.

People it is a VACATION. And more importantly it is Disney. I absolutely refuse to get stressed over a vacation. Have consideration for other while on the vacation and try not to judge.

Many times we judge people based on what we see or believe. We don't have all the facts and we don't know what is in other's minds. People take vacations for a lot of different reasons. Often time the financial situation can change between the time a vacation is planned and when it happens. Every person's situation is different and after all this is a budget board, where we talk about ways to save money.

On one of our trips my daughter and I were in the food court of one of the All Stars when we ran into a soldier that I had served with during my military career. There were three young children with him and his wife. I noticed that they were making sandwiches with a loaf of bread they had purchased and refilling water bottles (Notice I said water bottles not soda.) from the sink at food court. They were making lunch for later in the park. The kids were eating Pop Tarts for breakfast.

No matter how tight money was those kids were having a great time. They were at Walt Disney World! We encountered them several more times during the week. At the pool one night, he and I were talking. He told me if it wasn't for the special military tickets and rate that Disney had given that vacation wouldn't have been happening.

It was a vacation they he probably couldn't afford financially. Who knows what bills hadn't been paid that month. It also was a vacation that he couldn't afford not to take. He was deploying for yet another tour in the Middle East upon their return to Fort Bragg.

His kids won't remember that as the trip where they were too poor to eat at Cinderella's Castle. Instead they will remember that they had the best time of their life. The time they met Mickey Mouse. The time when Daddy took them to WDW. Those will be the pictures he'll look at while serving overseas.

I shared this with you to say, not everyone can afford to stay at the Grand Floridian and eat at the signature restaurants. Try not to judge others when you are there. Enjoy your trip and let them enjoy theirs.

I know somebody who would do just what you said in the first paragraph. This was at his work cafeteria. They told him if they see him do it again he would be fired for theft from the company. It is for partons to use with their purchases. I do not know if they would have fired him but he never did it again.

Some people are just cheap and don't care whose money they take to save their own.

I have never had a need for a jelly packet, but all I can think of after reading all the talk of "taking something without paying for it" is the reaction of the CM if you took a couple of jelly packets up to the register to pay for them.....I think they would look at you like you were crazy!!! My guess is that they would say that you should pay for the food that is priced in the food court and if you want a packet of jelly then by all means knock yourself out!!!!!
