We're eating at the Brown Derby in Dec in order to get the Fantasmic reserved seating. After that we want to walk thru the Osborne lights. What time should we schedule our dinner reservation for?

It depends on what time Fantasmic is scheduled for that night and if there are two shows or not.

If there is only one show, you can be somewhat pressed for time. They usually turn the lights on at about 6:00 and it is VERY crowded. Then you need to try and hightail it out of there for a 7:00 Fantasmic. Not enough time.

If you go on a night when there are two Fantasmic showings, try and stay for the second show. That way you can enjoy the lights while everyone else is sitting through the first Fantasmic.

The other option is to try and do Fantasmic and the Osbourne lights on different nights. That is exactly what we did. We planned two different evenings for MGM and were able to see all that we wanted.

We had the FDP at the Brown Derby on Dec. 19. Our ADR was for 4:30 p.m. After a leisurely, wonderful dinner, we visited a few shops on the main street leading to Oscar's. We entered the gate around 6:25 p.m. for the 7 p.m. show. We had great seats.

After the show, we toured the Osborne Family lights. I can't recall what time the park closed, but we spent quite a while enjoying the lights.

I would also recommend doing the Osborne lights after watching Fantasmic. I don't think you will make it through the crowds and into Fantasmic if you try and do it first.

We did this December gone - Brown Derby was great - food and atmosphere lovely and Dave Lee Roth had been in earlier in the day!

There weren't many dining choice times and i think we got 4.20pm which was about right. This wouldn't give you time to take in the lights before fantasmic though - you would really need to do them afterwards. It is a lovely time to go though and the lights seem to get better each year.
