Eat at home

The OP started it because she wanted to stop eating out so much . Meal planning happens , a few folks have blogs , a few folks post pics of their yummy meals and we swap recipes . Apparently a monster was born , I had no idea this thread would hang on so long LOL!!

I think at some point I think we will have to start a need thread. Dis limits threads to so many pages , but think we are ok for now.

Awesome :) Today DD will eat at Nana's while I have a date day with my guy. But starting tomorrow the plan is:

  • Perch with rice & green beans (half the bag of fish)
  • Japanese chicken with rice, zucchini & onions and carrots
  • fish tacos with fresh salsa and peaches (the other half bag of fish)
  • chicken veggie soup with my awesome organic stock (I went to Kroger last month and they were discontinuing large cartons of organic stock (chicken, beef and veggie) for 50 cents. FIFTY CENTS! I got all of them, 12. So I need to use them up!)
  • spaghetti, garlic bread and snow peas

I made the lite Classico chicken alfredo. It was quick and inexpensive. I got the sauce BOGO and the noodles for a buck so it was a pretty cheap dinner. The chicken I had on hand because we go through a 3lb bag of boneless skinless chicken breasts a week. I won't be going to the store until Wednesday.

Funeral. No idea about dinner because I am unsure where I will be.

We are saving up forour disney trip. Its goin to be hard but no meals out for us until our trip.

I'm in the same boat. My boyfriend and I eat out for lunch quite often and are trying to cut that out. We almost never go out to dinner unless it is a preplanned, special type of thing (such as Carrabba's the other night which was a delayed congrats for my 3.9 GPA this last semester). Lunch is what kicks us in the wallet!

One thing I am doing is trying to save money at the grocery. We have a lot in the freezer that we can use and I am trying to do that. For example, the only meat I need this week is some steak for one meal (ran out of steak but no good deals recently to stock up).

Well, it's Monday...DH texted me and said he wants to come to my work and bring lunch to me. So sweet. :lovestruc

Dinner:

Oven BBQ Chicken
Red Potatoes w/ butter and sour cream
Fried Okra (breaded and frozen from my mom's garden last year, yum)

Tonight we are having grilled steak with hash brown patties, spring mix salad, and crusty rolls.

Tonight is my version of shake and bake chicken, broccoli rice casserole , squash

Tuesday, "crabbie patties" aka Crab cakes to us adults ; ) , tomato, cucumber salad.

Wed Grill night, burgers, chicken and veggies on grill, and left over broccoli rice im sure

Thursday chicken spaghetti , corn on cob.

Weekend still up in air

We ate at the festival in New Orleans on Saturday and had breakfast out on Sunday. Last night the guys grilled something, I went to bed early suffering from TMBS-Too Much Basketball Syndrome. I get the big TV back tonight-yippee!

Tonight is spaghetti and meatballs with sauce made from fresh overripe tomatoes-Yum! We'll have garlic bread and a salad to go with.

As long as DH doesn't change my plans that is our dinner for the week. We were spending way too much dining out as well and too many times I have said, I could make this better at home! So now I do. And hubby runs the grill. We've saved $400-500 a month by only dining out twice a month now. And we have good leftovers for lunches now too.

This week DH is out of town and its kid friendly meal all week !:cool1:

Tonight: Chicken Quesadillas and grapes

Tuesday: Cheesy eggs with tortillas and grapes

Tonight is Symphony on the Lawn at the university I work at. We went last year and really enjoyed it. So tonight we will pick up a couple of $5 pizzas from Little Caesars for dinner. Adult symphony tickets were $5 each and kids are free. Dinner and a show for a family of 5- $20, can't beat that with a stick. :dance3:

Tonight will most likely be out after the funeral. No idea where. We leave for the grave side service at 2 so we will decide after that.

I need some good thoughts for today. Usually I am the emotional one, but today I have to be the strong one and be there for everyone else. I just hope I can do it.

We ate too much too lol, at least I walked some and sweated calories off hiking between the Mint and the car lol.

It was sooooo hot! I had the tomato with shrimp remoulaude and a fried burrito thing stuffed with crawfish. I might have had a Monsoon at Port o'Call too.

Getting in touch with my inner GRIT today-made smothered chicken, squash and tomatoes and field peas with snap beans. My Memaw used to cook this whenever we were putting up tomatoes. It tastes like summer :)
