EasyWDW - bitter much?

Not bitter, just snarky which I love. He pokes fun to some of the folks over here, and I'm guessing, because some just take visiting WDW too seriously or over analyze it.

I've always enjoyed reading easywdw's reports. Josh's view (sans rosy tinted glasses) is a frank, realistic, and informative opinion that I value. I want a picture of what is really going on- without the blurring of pixie dust. And his dry, sarcastic sense of humour is right up my alley. As others have noted, if this approach doesn't appeal to you then there are plenty of other sites you can visit that will give you the soft fuzzy cuddles you need.

Funny I just read through your old post and this phrase is the first thing that came to mind.

"The pot calling the kettle black" is an idiom used to claim that a person is guilty of the very thing of which they accuse another.

I will say, I love both EasyWDW and Touring Plans and use both when planning. They both have their positives and negatives and I get good information from both of them.

That said, I LOVE to read Josh's stuff at EasyWDW. It is full of information and highly entertaining. I personally want the real information given to me without extra pixie dust because sometimes that pixie dust can get in the way of the truth. Then again, I am the sort of person who answers a question with the truth and without fluff here so it makes sense that I want answers to MY questions the same way.

And I have never seen anything Josh has posted here as "rude" but I don't read everything ever posted either. Just because you don't like his writing style or his sense of humor doesn't automatically make him rude. It makes him different then you. And some people ENJOY his sense of humor (myself included).

Easywdw replaced all other sites as my favourite unofficial disney site. I think he's a wonderful writer, creative, honest and funny.

His website is one of my favorites. I appreciate the "tell it like it is" style he has. So much information, and his ratings on which park to attend and why are, IMO, very accurate. He does have his own style that might not be for everyone, but he cracks me up....:)

My family has never been to WDW and all I can say is that I think Josh's site is a godsend, absolute godsend. With his help and the kind people on this board, I now feel like I have a graduate degree in disney planning. I also recommend his site to anyone who will listen. Through his help I now know which park is the best one to visit on each day AND WHY, I know shortcuts through the park, which turnstiles are the best one to be at, what rides are a priority, what CS restaurants have the best menu, what a popular souvenir will cost. Just a wealth of information. I feel incredibly prepared for our trip in Oct. Do you know what else he did ? He brought down my unrealistic expectations on what the theme parks will be like. I truly can't say enough about him and his blog. If I was to meet him, I would probably give him a handshake and buy him a drink.

I'm not confused. Len Testa is not some random blogger, as Josh is. Len Testa is the owner of touringplans.com and author of The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World. And, I wasn't referring to the thread you are referencing, or any thread in particular.

All you have to do is look up Josh's old post history and see that he is rude, a lot. As I said, it's not about his site, he has a fine site, I, personally, find his posts here on this board rude and unfriendly. I can certainly appreciate dry wit and scarcasm, but his posts seems to lead me to believe he thinks he's superior to everyone on the Disboards and in the Disney blogging community. Sorry, he just rubs me the wrong way . . .

Hello Mrs. Testa.

I think this thread is broken, a bunch of good replies are missing and some really mean ones are still here? I wonder what causes that, I did refresh the page and also cleared my browser cache but no change.

What cracks me up about these "I don't like Josh's style" posts is that by complaining about him, you're just giving him more exposure. There are always people who haven't heard of him, come into these posts, and then check out his site, thus increasing his readership. Since he doesn't charge for access and doesn't have ads, I'm not sure if it benefits him beyond increasing his "celebrity Disney blogger" status, but it very well might in the future. And if you're a Touring Plans/Unofficial Guide fan, then you're likely hurting your guy, because I think a significant amount of people will automatically choose the "free" option over one that requires them to pay, especially since easywdw gets so many good reviews.

For the record...I am clearly in the "Fans of Josh" camp. I want to have realistic expectations--good or bad--going into my Disney trips. Josh gives that. I don't want to waste my limited time there doing activities that aren't worth it because I've gotten an unbiased review somewhere that just blew artificial sunshine and roses.

I agree with you. I had previously read his site and I thought, oh, okay he's snarky and sarcastic - you know, kind of tongue-in-cheek, making fun. BUT, after I discovered he is a member here and read his posts, I now think he's just mean and bitter. He has responded to people's posts and questions on here with nasty, condesending answers - he really seems to come off as a jerk. I don't read his site anymore, and it's not about the site, which is fine, it's the stuff I've seen him post on here.

Surely calling another board member rude, mean, bitter, nasty, condescending etc etc is a personal attack and should have no place on these boards?

Any why have the posts been removed that questioned why this thread was not closed and what relevance it had to the Theme Park board?

That really does seem quite peculiar as I would have thought it is a very relevant question?

I absolutely love that site. I don't see him as bitter. I do think he has a sarcastic sense of humor, which I find really funny.

Completely agree 100000%!

I concur. Josh is funny. Snarky, maybe, but never cruel or rude.

Totally agree. I love reading his site, even if I'm not looking for "best park" or whatever information.

I see that someone mentioned Len Testa and Touring Plans - while I did use the site for planning one trip, I read a couple of blog posts and found them very boring. Not something I'd read for fun.

I think Josh has a pretty good blog going there at easywdw. His photo tours are fantastic. As far as being "bitter", I don't perceive him that way.
Every narrator in whatever setting will have a distinct tone. His is sarcastic/snarky. His POV as a local who goes to the parks incessantly is bound to be a bit jaded. That just comes with over-familiarity with anything.
