EasyWDW - bitter much?

I am another fan of his site. It was a great help in planning my trip this past June.:thumbsup2

What's the saying? - any publicity is good publicity. I don't understand the folks with animosity towards a touring site. As for touring plans/lines die hards, competition is good for the consumer. For the folks with no sense of humor, well, there's not much anyone can do for you there.

Even if you constantly need pixie dust sprinkled over everything, ignore the text and just look at the pictures and crowd reports- it's really a great resource!

Let me just say +1 to every post so far. :rotfl:

I think for him Disney World is just that much a part of his life, so he's a realist about it all. He also has a sarcastic sense of humor. I find his website very helpful because of his realism. He seems to cut through all the WDW stereotypes of bliss and perfect weather to show that there are lots of rainy days and crowds involved too and if you don't plan for/around those things, it can be quite miserable.

This :thumbsup2 And I love his sense of humour, it makes his website very enjoyable to read :)

Add me to the list of EasyWDW fans. I love his take on some of the more absurd practices that WDW (and some guests) present.

Don't forget that Josh's site is FREE and offers as good if not better (IMO it is better) info than the paid sites for vacation planning.

Humor can be difficult to get sometimes over the internet. I think what you might read as bitter others take as snarky and humorous. I know that is how I take it - his comments have me laughing out loud.

See if you can find his review of the Angus Pizza Burger...lol

I love his site and it's very helpful. I don't see the bitterness. He's just honest about what you should expect at certain times.

My Dh thinks Disney is ok, admits we had fun last year but mainly puts up with my obsession because it makes me happy and well he loves me. He doesn't get into the planning at all, UNLESS I say that I just saw something funny - my DH will ask if it's on "that snarky guy's website" and if it is, then he will read it and laugh and enjoy it. Josh's blog is the only internet info my DH will read. However, we are pretty sarcastic people to begin with so maybe we are predisposed to liking it.

I have to agree on this one. I think he has the best site out there. I appreciate his sarcasm and absolutely love his picture write-ups. They make me feel like I'm there.

So I've read a lot of references on here to easywdw.com so yesterday I went over to check it out.
I read 5-6 full posts and I have to say that I get the vibe that the blogger is mega bitter toward WDW.
I suppose it's possible that I'm reading that into the posts, but it sure seems like the blogger is awfully snarky about the place that they are choosing to write about.
I just don't get it. Why would you blog about WDW if you're over it?
I agree with you. I had previously read his site and I thought, oh, okay he's snarky and sarcastic - you know, kind of tongue-in-cheek, making fun. BUT, after I discovered he is a member here and read his posts, I now think he's just mean and bitter. He has responded to people's posts and questions on here with nasty, condesending answers - he really seems to come off as a jerk. I don't read his site anymore, and it's not about the site, which is fine, it's the stuff I've seen him post on here.

really? that doesn't fit with the impression I get of him. I have no idea who he is on here so I can't argue with you as I don't know :confused3

I don't think anyone who is mean & bitter & hates Disney would spend the majority of his waking hours at the parks or writing content for his (free!) website, to help others tour the parks effectively & efficiently. If you'll notice, he's at the parks for hours on end nearly every single day, noting wait times, refining touring plans, reviewing restaurants, cataloguing merch, tracking down answers to specific questions asked by his readers... it never ends. And he doesn't charge for any of it!

And, OH, the humanity! Some of those menu items he reviews for readers' benefit are just dire! I still wake screaming in the night over some sort of pizza burger with a sickly-pink moist-looking ham slice on it.

Finally, I just can't hate on anyone having an ongoing love affair with his ever-teenier camera lenses.

I think you either get his humor or you don't. Nothing wrong with either result... just read somewhere else if he's not your cup of tea.

Add me to the list!! Sarcastic---absolutely. Bitter towards Disney--not at all. His focus is showing people how to have the most enjoyable vacation given any circumstance.

I can't say for sure if this is the case or not, but I do recall a thread about touring sites from a couple of weeks ago where one of the other bloggers (not Josh) was called out for a couple of dismissive responses. I remember posts telling him that he was being rude. Pretty sure Josh indeed posted on that thread, but he wasn't the one getting the "rude" feedback. Perhaps the poster you are responding to was confused as to which blogger she was seeing on the thread?

Idk. Just a thought.

And of course, as we all know, "snarky" is often seen as "rude" by people who don't appreciate that style.

That's why they need a "snarky" font to go along with the "sarcastic" and "ironic" fonts.

Not that I've ever been accused of employing any of those tactics. ;)

Really? I must be missing something because I've never seen him post rudely on this site.

Anyways, he's not being bitter, but he's being realistic about something that many of us aren't. He embellishes and jokes about theme park stereotypes and often references "interesting" DISboards threads. It's his brand of humor and, keep in mind, not all kinds of humor are for everyone. It's not that your misreading, rather you just don't like the style.

Personally, I find him funny and informative.

ETA: I may be posted previous known information, but I believe his username is notsofrostyjosh. I kind of find it funny that, on the DIS, he's a "mouseketeer." Anyways, I've never seen him rude on the DIS.

Love Josh's site!!! He makes me laugh. His comments are always spot-on and pithy. Not to mention snarky...in a good way. Not everyone can pull that off, so I really appreciate those that can.

I read easywdw for the non-sugar coated truth. Plus, I LOVE all the aside comments he makes on other park guests, CMs, ridiculous situations, and questionable rules and policies in the World. The absurdity of the whole Disney obsessiveness is really funny....and I'm saying that as a complete Disney obsessed adult. I just like to laugh at myself...and those in my same predicament. And Josh makes me laugh...a lot. Not to mention, his touring plans and calendars are the bomb!! :thumbsup2

Really? I think you are getting confused. Josh posted a few times but mostly to explain his side of things...there was no meanness or bitterness or condescending answers from his part.

I don't think Josh is being bitter at all......he's just being Josh and that may include being brutally honest about some things some times. I love Josh though...I love his sense of humor, his sarcasm, how realistic he is about things, his advice, his good looks, etc etc. #TEAMJOSH! :rotfl2:

NOBODY covers Animal Kingdom than EasyWDW.

The humor is an acquired taste. It most definitely isn't the "everything is magical" vibe you'll see on some sites. But Josh has probably not played "the game" that other websites do in order to gain access to press previews etc. That's half on him and half on Disney for not recognizing another valuable member of the press.

I'm not confused. Len Testa is not some random blogger, as Josh is. Len Testa is the owner of touringplans.com and author of The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World. And, I wasn't referring to the thread you are referencing, or any thread in particular.

All you have to do is look up Josh's old post history and see that he is rude, a lot. As I said, it's not about his site, he has a fine site, I, personally, find his posts here on this board rude and unfriendly. I can certainly appreciate dry wit and scarcasm, but his posts seems to lead me to believe he thinks he's superior to everyone on the Disboards and in the Disney blogging community. Sorry, he just rubs me the wrong way . . .
