We are taking our first Disney Cruise (7 Day Eastern Caribbean) departing 4/30. We are late 20's, no kids and looking for recommendations on good excursions at both St. Maartin (maybe beach & shopping?) & St. Thomas (especially interested in going to St. John - snorkeling, hiking, etc). Most likely we will book through Disney b/c it is so easy. :cool1: We welcome all advice!! Thanks!

We were in the same situation as you, later 20s no kids on the Eastern in January. We chose to do the butterfly farm in St. Maarten because it was inexpensive and gave a brief tour of the island. IT also stopped in Marigot for shopping. Later in the day we went over to Orient Bay.

In St Thomas we shopped and that was about it. With no children we wanted more time to shop and explore. No matter what you choose you will have a great time!

Hi! My DH and I took the Eastern without DD about 4 years ago and all we did was SHOP in St. Thomas - it was great fun and I got a beautiful tanzanite.

We are going on th 4/16 Eastern with our DD13 and we are trying something different . If you visit cruisecritic.com and search the St.Thomas thread there is all sorts of good info.

We are going to do a tour with Sunny - he is a tour operator - sunnylistontours.com and charges $20 pp. He picks you up at the dock and takes you shopping - if you want to - or he'll pick you up later for the tour of the island and then drop you off at a beach for a few hours then take you back to the ship. If you read the Cruise Critic boards there are all kinds of reviews for him and Godfrey tours. So, for $20pp you get shopping, tour and beach time! :cool1:

When I emailed Sunny - he called me back that same evening and was very pleasant. My daughter overheard our conversation - " we'll meet you on the dock at 9am" - she thought I was doing a drug deal :rotfl2: .

When we were in St. Maarten last time we did the Butterfly tour thru DCL and it was very nice and relaxing. This time we are going to rent a car and go on our own and then go to Bayside Riding Stables to horseback ride on the beach. We are very being adventurous this time - or crazy!

Check out the Cruise Critic boards - there is LOTS of interesting info there!

Take care!

We used shoretrips.com in January to reserve a private helicopter tour of St. Thomas. It was wonderful. Then we grabbed a taxi and did Coral World on our own. :flower:

Captain Nautica was awesome at St. Thomas. A speed boat ride (which is lots of fun in itself) to 3 different snorkeling destinations. This was a top notch excursion. If you want more info, just pm me.

High recommend the 12 metre regetta on St. Maartin.

We had our kids, age 12 and 16 at the time. It is the one of the best excursions I've taken in 7 cruises.....second only to whale watching in Alaska.

Take a taxi ride to Maho Beach on St. Martin. Great beach, bar/bbq/bathrooms/shopping, etc. Also next to Airport, so wonderful place for "anoraks"............we got fantastic photos of planes just skimming the fence onto the runway.....right next to the beach!Check out the web-site.

Island of St. John is pure paradise! Best place we have ever visited. Bliss.
