Easter break discounts?

A friend just decided to look into going to WDW over the Easter break. I know that there was free dining available in late March, but are there any discounts available over the Easter break now? Any pin codes out there?

Thanks for helping me help a friend! :flower3:

Hi - from what I am seeing and hearing it does not look good. GP rates are blacked out for that time as well as the AP rates. I too was hoping :(

Easter is VERY busy at WDW. They have no need to release discounts that week.

Right now there is AAA discount, not much but it helps. I've checked my resorts of choice, and every single room type is available at every resort, so I'm not totally giving up hope quite yet. There is only a little over 2 months until Easter break, so that would mean thousands of people would have to hurry and book at full price in that time frame. We shall see!

Last year I booked Easter week based on previous Easter discounts, but no discounts ever materialized. We stayed at BWI that week and it was nice, but VERY expensive (by that time I had promised BW so couldn't go back). It was super crowded and I swore that I would never book Easter again, and so far, I haven't booked a Disney hotel. I currently have offsite reservations and plan on driving (ridiculous airfare as well).

I am also seeing availability on all of my potential room choices. I think a lot of people got burned last year and figure they will just stay off-site unless some discounts come out. I know I am committed to offsite rather than pay $500 per room per night for a std room. Deluxe or not, that's outrageous.

AP rates are blacked out for that time period. The rack rates are insane for Easter break.

Agreed. I think that is why there is still an overwhelming amount of resort availability. I think if people have not booked by now, they will look for alternative vacation plans.

Last year there were AP rates after Easter Sunday but they came out late by that time we had another vacation planned. Disney's loss. I refuse to pay their nutso rack rate and have booked offsite for the first time in 20 plus trips. Between rack rate and the ridiculous DDP prices it's our last year of WDW trips.

Bumping this up so we can keep it updated if any deals become available. Still TONS of availability at my resorts of choice.

My sister went last November (forget when, exactly) and the rooms were full price until...about 3 weeks before. I really couldn't believe it. She ended up getting a nice discount off her Poly room, about $900 off total. I think it went from about $2600 to around $1700. So there is still hope. I can't see people paying > $500 per night for a std room, and I can't see Disney leaving rooms empty.

Maybe they have a trick up their sleeve.

I hope you are right...however, I must respectfully disagree. November is not Spring Break. Unless she traveled Thanksgiving weekend and got this deal it is not looking hopeful for Easter weekend. All codes/pins that have been released are showing blackout dates for April1-14 :( But here's to keep hoping!

We went the past 4 Easters. Last year with no discount we stayed at the Shades of Green which ment Disney lost our hotel$$ This year we are offsite and plan to eat most meals offsite due to location. While we are going regardless I would much rather get a discount and stay onsite and give Disney all my $$$

Two years ago there was a discount for Easter Week. I know because we got it. First it was a gift card promo that I got I think sometime in late 2009 (this was for Easter in 2010). Then a few weeks before our trip, a better discount extended into Easter Week and I was able to upgrade to POR from POP for about $250 less.

So it can happen, whether it happens for this Easter remains to be seen. But keep an eye on things for your friend, because they may extend some of the discounts into that week.

I hope so!

This year if Easter is going to carrry on the tradition of being busy in WDW, must be most people are staying offsite. I'm checking BC, BWI, and Poly and all 3 of those resorts have every type of room category available. I think it's a natural move to blackout Easter weeks for the time being....just to see if swarms of people suddenly decide to pay full price. However, I'd be shocked to see disney leave so many empty rooms during what is traditionally a very busy time for them. I can remember just a few years ago having to book a moderate resort because all the deluxes were sold out! This is WAY far from true this year....

I realize that November is not Spring Break, but an empty room is an empty room.

I think that in the past, DISers booked rooms and hoped for a discount later (as I have done also). Last year, we all did that and...no discounts for Easter.

I didn't do that this year, and I think a lot of people feel the same way. Hence the large availability of every room category at BWI (which I have been checking) Even Deluxe CL, which always sells out quickly, is still available.

Disney can hold the line on prices because it is 'Spring Break', but that's not going to sell those rooms. Hence my 'trick up their sleeve' comment. I can't imagine what their strategy is when our strategy is simply not to pay outrageous prices.

Who is going to blink first? Are Disney customers going to relent and say 'aw shucks, I'll pay $545 for a std BWI room. it's magic, after all'. I don't think so.

And if it does turn out that they make more money selling less, higher priced rooms, then good for them. That's the model they will use. But I won't be spending my money on a Disney room, and all the associated costs that go along with it.

So funny, I came to this board to post the same thing:lmao: A friend of mine came up to me Friday and said they are looking into going to WDW for springbreak over Easter weekend wanted to know if I could help them with any type of discount. I thought it would be next to impossible, but figured if anyone would know it would be my fellow Dis'ers. I have never gone to Disney during Easter because of the large amount of people and the prices.

It is super crowded at Easter. The magic hours are good if you're onsite, but the current room pricing makes magic hours less important to me.

So they have had easter discounts before? Wow, Iam so keeping my fingers crossed. We could really use a break.

I believe they had discounts every year after 9/11, except last year was blacked out. This year so far it's blacked out, except the difference is that there are a ton of empty rooms. I continue to check my resorts each day and every single room category is available -- BC, Poly, BWI.
