I want to say that I swore there was a commercial at some point where they may have referred to it as Disney. But it is so part of the language here, that I may just be imagining things since that really isn't the brand.
I've heard cast members refer to it as Disney though when they weren't cast membering at the time.
I think it's just easier to say, "I'm going to Disney" instead of "Walt Disney World" or even "Disney World". Disneyland is one word, so it seems kind of wrong to take away part of it. Besides, Disneyland rolls of the tongue better.
What bugs me is when DH (or his parents) say they're going to Disney, when they are actually referring to Magic Kingdom. They call the other parks by their names; Epcot, Animal Kingdom & Hollywood Studios; but Disney is Magic Kingdom to them.
Sometimes I'll say "Disney" if I'm talking generally.
For example, right now we have no trips planned, so I might say, "I can't wait to go back to Disney". I'm not thinking of one resort in particular, I'm longing to go to each equally!
