EARLY ROLL CALL....September 18, 2005 on Disney's Wonder (4 day cruise)

Woohoo! That is great. Amanda, I'm sure you & I created most of them since we've been talking for months! ha ha LOL I'm soooo glad to see we're growing! So, guys, what are your plans? Cruise only? Anyone going to WDW? If so, before or after? Where are you staying pre-cruise? Or at WDW?

Hi Everyone! Thanks for the warm welcomes! We're definitely looking forward to this trip. I've been on the Wonder in '03 and the Magic in '04 with the my DH and 3 children. We did the REAS package to celebrate our 15th anniversary in '04. It was wonderful! We have another booked for Oct. '06 (We're part of the Cruisetoberfest crowd). We love sailing DCL. When my sisters and I began planning our trip, we researched some resorts and then decided on a cruise. (They've never done one) I was open to trying another cruiseline, but after reading critic reviews and seeing pictures of staterooms, DCL won hands down! It seems the other lines use their older ships for the shorter cruises. Plus, we weren't looking for a "spring break" or "hedonism" type atmosphere. Just fun quality time together since we live apart in different states. I think this is the first Disney experience for 2 of them! Mine was on the Wonder 2 years ago. I went to WDW for the first time last summer. I guess I'm a late bloomer! We're planning on heading down to FL the day before...flying in to MCO and all meeting up there. Since I'm in NC, I've always driven down, so I'm not sure of the plan on hotel stay and getting to port. Still working on that, plus waiting for some airfare sales.

Wow it is great to see the board growing!! I tell you I think I need Disney Cruise Rehab! I am so excited for this cruise. I am constantly checking the boards, drooling over menus and reading my passporter and I still 6 months to go. What am I going to do? My husband is excited but no where near me and we have decided to wait to tell my DD (8) till we are a little closer, I know she couldn't handle the wait. How is everyone else handling the wait? We are going to go to the parks on Saturday before the cruise and for 2 days after. We are Annual Passholders and live about an hour away so it won't be too far for us to go. Everybody have a great Disney week!!

New here! Just wanted to say hello. This will be our first cruise so we are all very excited! My husband, mother and I will be joining your cruise with boys 16, 6, and 4. I'm hoping there will be more teens out there for my 16 year old to meet pre-cruise! Looking forward to this board, been learning lots from the posts.

I know some may be uncomfortable go=iving out stateroom numbers, but I can assure you, I have been on 4 DCL cruises and always shared my stateroom number with my fellow cruisers on the meet thread. I have never had a problem, and such fun things can be done. On our 09/19/04 Wonder cruise, someone made a DIS green Mickey Head magnet about the size of a fist. We played DIS tag!! LOL It was a hoot!

No offense to anyone here....I'm sure you all are just great! But, my DH always worries about what I put out on the internet about us...never really knowing who is reading it. Just a couple months ago, someone in Kansas was killed and her unborn baby taken from her body by someone she met on the internet (she was selling a dog). Also, I so felt for Elizabeth Smart's family when she was taken by that homeless man they let work on their house...its a sad day when you can't help people who need it and have to distrust everyone because it puts your family at risk. I'd be just heartbroken if anything like that happened to our family or kids.

You may notice early on I posted some christmas pictures of our family. I was able to later edit and remove those pictures. Not that I don't want anyone to know what we look like. Heck, I can email pics to anyone who is interested....but for safety reasons, my DH preferred I take the kids pics off a public forum. You just never know who is lurking (it could be someone not even going with us on this cruise) that decides hey your kid is cute...I'm going to try and find you and take your kid. Paranoid, probably. But safe. That being said, I probably won't post my room # on here, but as the cruise gets closer, will PM those of you who want/need it so we can meet each other on the cruise.

BTW, does Disney do a Meet & Mingle for people signed up on the roll call or anything like that? We just did RC and everyone who signed up got an invitation to an M&M party on our 2nd day with horsdevours (sp?) and door prizes. It was a fun way to get to meet everyone we had been talking with for months prior to the cruise.

I agree with you 100%, each and every person needs to consider the safety of themselves and their families first. I realize that I have given out info, but my DW is okay with that. Trust me no one here will hold your feet to the fire when it comes to an issue like this one. Another way to to gather info is through sending someone a PM, that way it stays private.

Maybe we can bribe the captain into making an announcement. "Would all DISboard members sailing the Wonder, please meet on Deck 9."

Hi there! just wanted to clarify my group on the cruise...It says " Laura and 3DS "(that's 3 dis-sisters ...Sue, Jan, and Jen). Our 1st ever sisters trip -DH's and kids stay home. My dad calls us his "Little Women". We're in a Cat. 8 and so000 excited for this trip

I fixed it Laura. Seems like we have a rather small DIS group in this sailing, being that we are pretty much 6 months out. Is anyone thinking of upgrading at the port?
Does anyone here play Sims? I have just started playing SIMS2 and it is so addicting. I am still learning though.
