I'm getting anxious, and was just *thinking* of changing our early May vacation to POSSBILY early March. How would the crowds compare between the two? Is there ANY chance at all of a soft-opening for EE in early March??

We're just thinking at this point----I'd rather wait until May, but I'm getting anxious!!!

I'm there early March, just before and as, Spring Break kicks off. I understand its quiet in the parks, which was my number one reason to choose it. The weather can be a little unpredictable. May crowds are a fair bit higher than early March.

Rumours are growing soft openings will indeed be happening in March, according to the Orlando Sentinel and other sources.

yeah, the weather issue is the only thing holding us back right now-----we NEED to swim and get sun, so that is why I'm a little hesitant to say early March....

Just an FYI I'm in the Houston area and our Spring Break starts March 4th so Spring Breaks do start then. When we went in March 04 it was colder than we expected it to be.

The weather in any part of March can be very iffy. It can be 85 degrees on day, and 40 the next...you just never can tell. How long is your trip? Do you have to swim everyday? If you are going for a reasonable amount of time (say 5 days) chances are good you will get at least one good swim day in.

The crowds is another iffy issue. I am going March 2-12 because that is when I have spring break. But I have many friends who are not on spring break until the second and third week of March. Also, with Easter being in late April this year, there is a good chance people will hold off on their vacations and go closer to Easter, leaving early March with fairly light crowds.

Hope this helps!

I'm going to have to make sure I put some lime green on my fanny pack! Looks like a lot of us are going around the same time. We'll be there from the 3rd to the 13th.

Back in '89 I went the first two weeks of March and it was quiet. I don't remember when Easter was that year, but the weather was nice, and the crowds were low. It's been a lot of years now so that could be very different.

Can't wait to get down there thought!

Wow! Your Spring Break is early! I thought most school districts didn't have their breaks until around the 13th. That's when our break is.

The first 10 days in March is 'our time' because my college has its break then and I've been to WDW 5 times during our breaks. Some observations:

I'd call crowds Moderate, use Early Entry and FP and you'll get your money's worth. We get there early, do the major attractions until the standby lines for things like SM exceed 30 mins., about 1pm, then we hop to Epcot which never seems too crowded.

In 30 park days over the years, we've had one day of rain the whole time, not counting the 15 min spritz you'll get in Fla in any season. The daily highs are almost always 75 - 85. Check this link for years of weather data:http://www.srh.noaa.gov/mlb/mlbclimat.html
Only once or twice did I wear anything but shorts, even at PI at night.

If you're in Pa right now, it was in the teens last night and there's snow on the ground. You have no idea how great it is to trudge through a snow-covered airport parking lot in shorts, only to step off the plane at MCO to a blast of hot, humid air. I've never been in May, but I love my March.

According to what I've seen there is a possibility of soft openings for EE starting in early February.

If this makes any difference to your planning, Orlando public schools are on spring break the week of the 13th :crowded: . That's enough to convince me to change our plans to go that week.

Still debating, but I like what I hear so far.........one bad thing I already noticed is our rate would be in 'peak' season rather than the value or regular season we are used to. This amounts to around $17 extra dollars a night (moderate).

Soft openings in March ???? Where? What? Anything? Thanks... :teeth:
