Early March storm clouds

If it was me and I didn't have time to shop for and break in a new pair of waterproof shoes then I'd bring along a set of waterproof shoe covers and wear the comfy sandals. Pack them along and if it rains you can pop on the covers. There is just wayyyy too much walking to be in uncomfortable shoes all day. Quick google search for rain covers for shoes shows tons of options from 3$ on up.

Thank you. I actually did just what you suggested. Should get them tomorrow and hopefully they will work. If nothing else they will give me some piece of mind

Great, hopefully you'll luck out and not need them! Oh, and you can also pack along a pair or two of spare/dry socks or even a backup pair of shoes and keep them in a locker just in case.

Yeah hopefully the weather will get better before then. We had actually talked before about getting a locker to put a jacket in during the day when we wouldn't need it so it would come in handy for this also. Thank you!

We leave in a week and I did notice the rain so I'm getting a bit worried. I have some hiking sandals but if it cold they may not be ideal to wear. I had bought a pair of boots but they are really uncomfortable. Not sure now what to do.

If you leave in a week, you have nothing to worry about. The storm coming this week will be long gone by then. I don't think there is another one forecast after this one. You'll likely be in for some beautiful, albeit chilly weather.

I have a pair of short Hunter rain boots. I've worn them many times, and they've always been great. But I took them to DLR in January and wore them part of one day and then the next. Before long on that second day, the top of my right foot--where the highest point is--was so sore I was starting to limp! And I was sure, after having worn them all kinds of other places and having no issues the first day, they'd be fine. Nope! Just posting to say I think you're smart to stick with the tried and true.

right now it is showing around 50% of showers for next week. I'm hoping that will change

No forecast further out than 3 days is accurate.

That said, they talk about rainstorms here like major events and I have not heard anyone mention anything for next week other than some possible overnight rain Tuesday (overnight rain is pretty common in the winter here).

You'll have a clearer picture by Saturday.

I would just bring multiple pairs of comfortable shoes so you can rotate if they get wet.

Yeah I learned when we went last April to wait until the last minute to take the forecast seriously lol. The week before it said it was supposed to be in the 70's and then when we went it was over 100 every day.

Noooooooo please not that I'll take chilly and rain over the 100 degree heat this April!

I wouldn't worry too much about this. We should be in for a cool spring. Maybe a higher than normal chance of rain throughout April, but I doubt we will see a heat wave.

So how bad do we think this week will be? We'll be there Thursday and Friday and I'm so bummed about the weather! It's a parent/kid trip for my daughters birthday (her siblings are staying at home) and we've been planning and looking forward to this for months.

Hoping it won't be solid rain for both full days, maybe some windows of no rain?

Friday is gonna be bad. When the forecast says "heavy rain", it's gonna be a doozy. Friday and Saturday look to be the worst right now. Thursday looks okay. Maybe some light showers. Definitely won't ruin your day. Friday seems like the morning will be good, but the afternoon and evening might be a washout.

Can you reschedule your trip at all? If this is a big deal, special trip, I'd consider it. It's going to be quite cold and windy in addition to the rain, so depending on your kid, it might be miserable. I have a kid who, when he was younger, HATED the rain. I would have postponed a trip with a forecast like this one, honestly.

I was thinking about rescheduling, but unfortunately everyone is so busy there's not another time that works for us, kid activities, childcare at home, etc.

Flight is supposed to land at noon tomorrow. We have 2 day park hoppers with Genie +. Looks like there are still reservations all days. Wondering if we try to go to the park Wednesday afternoon/evening instead? It would be less time, but maybe 6-7 hours would be better than Friday. Or getting a 3rd day to use on Wednesday and still see what we can get in on Friday earlier?

I want to give a heads up to anyone who has WoC dessert party reservations.

The show will likely still go on (so no refunds), but the dessert party seating does not have umbrellas as of NYE. So your food and drinks will get wet. It’s possible they might have added them after that but their suggestion was bring your own umbrella.

I would absolutely add a day and try and do as much as possible Wednesday. And then if Friday goes badly, you will still feel like you had your 2 days.

Just make sure you are prepared for the cold and wind on Wednesday. Gonna be blustery!

I wonder how high the winds need to be for the show to be cancelled, because they are predicting some high winds in excess of 40mph some days this week. Is WoC nightly or just weekends?

WoC is nightly and the highest winds are on Wednesday with the heaviest rain on Thursday-Friday with the wind diminishing and only occasionally gusting up to 20mph which in my experience hasn’t been enough for them to cancel WoC
