Early-Early Roll call.... 4-28-07 Eastern

I have been thinking on the door signs -

we could do it two ways - everyone could have their own unique door sign and put the little magic logo on it - or we could all have one door sign that is the same and then make others if we want

I am going to make this on for my door - and could do this for everyone's doors - the characters in the porthole reflect my family - i ahve done this with more portholes - so we would not be limitied to four

I also think I will make a new doorsign for each day of the cruise - maybe half sheets - my kids will LOVE putting them up each day - they love this kind of stuff!!!

doorsignours.jpg

so I can make these for people or you or i could incorporate this into a different design - but either way - it would give us the distinction of being on this thread

I can also add DIS into it somehow - if anyone has thoughts on a title for us?!!?

this is the link to all of my cruise designs

This is so great! I would love to do this, but I have NO IDEA how to go about it! Do I need a special printer, or special paper? I guess that I will need to let you know what characters I will need - I'm going to consult DH on that one first! Thank you so much for your hard work! The only thing creative that I do is traditional scrapbooking, and I have no idea how to go about doing anything like this on the computer!

OK - this is our 1st Disney Cruise as well as my 1st time posting on a board. We will be on the 7th deck forward. Our "crew" is myself, my husband and our 4 year old daughter. She is so excited she can't stand it. We didn't realize you could book Palo so far ahead - so when we looked, it was full. Anyone know if we will actualy be able to book onboard?

From what everyone here says, they save about 50% of the Palo ressies for onboard booking, so you shouldn't have a problem getting one!

We also have a 4 year old daughter (Olivia) as well as an almost 3 year old daughter (Lauren) that we hope will be able to be in the club with her sister - I really don't know what we will do if she can't, because they are so close and the little one wants to do everything that her sister does! Lauren is the more outgoing one of the 2, so I think that she will be fine! They are both so excited about this vacation! As soon as we watched the planning video and saw the Oceaneers Club, Lauren said "Ooohh, I want to play in there!"

Danielle,
I too like you am computer illiterate but I would love to have a neat door sign to surprise my family.

And interestingly enough, my almost 3 year old GD is Olivia Lauren, so you have great taste in names. My daughter likes Olivia but wishes now she had saved Lauren in case # 3 is a girl because she likes it so well. We end up calling Alexis and Olivia Lexi and Livi so Lauren would have been good. Olivia will be 3 on June 2 so we are hoping she can get in the club. She is well potty trained so that won't be an issue.

So tell me, are you printing these just on paper and taping them to your door or are you ordering magnet sheets. I dont know where they sell them. Also can they go into a printer so that they can be printed on the sheet or do they need to be specially ordered? Either way its great to hear so many on us are on deck 7. I was in the front too till my husband changed us to the middle of the floor. Alot of us will have these on our doors and I think it would be very cool! Cant wait! Let me know how I should print this out and I will make sure to have it on our door!:hourglass

Hi PoshSpice,

I've seen the magnet paper at Target, Aaron Bros., and Best Buy so far. It's relatively inexpensive and I'm assuming it should work on any printers that we all have. I think using her specific design at least once would be great because we would know that it is a door to a DIS'er room! :cutie:

Only 47 more days!!! :dance3:

Hi PoshSpice94

I was able to get magnet paper at Staples. Yes...the paper can go through your printer. I was able to print off the "Magic" door sign that Julia and Nicks Mom created. It looks awesome and that was no small feat for me.

We just booked our first ever cruise and DCL to boot!!!:woohoo: :woohoo:

Just me and DH, ages 28 and 32...

We are soooooooo excited. I spent all day yesterday making signs for my door found some great ideas on the first thread below ...check it out... it was very helpful to me!!! Check our the second thread for other images and they will personalize for you!!!

DH and I are trying to decide if we should book excursions or just wait and see what we feel like doing once we are there.

Some of you are talking about the navigators, are they available already? where can I find them?
I do not have a room assigned yet as we just booked last week and we are cat 12.

Hi there,

My DH will be 33 and I am 25. Welcome to the "young with no kids" clan!

Thanks!!! This is to celebrate our 9th anniversary!!! DH wanted to do the 14 day transatlantic next year but I convinced him we needed a trial run...

Are there any meets planned?

There are no meets planned yet. A trial run is a great idea - my husband and I went on a 7-day Mexico cruise 4 years ago for our first time and I was starting to get antsy by day 3! Only 46 days, woohoo!

:wave2: Hi all, I hope you all are doing well. Times a ticking :) I have a few (3)questions....
How many of you are going to be taking seasickness meds?
How many of you are going to be giving it to your children?
Are cartons of ciggys cheaper on these boats, if so...how much?
I am going to my doctor tomorrow. I will be asking him for 2 (10 mg)valium for the plane...I am a chicken, i only take this to fly. I'll also be asking him for a prescription for the pactch behind the ear (transsomethingorother, I have the name in my bag) I'm nervous that I'll get sick. This is my first cruise and though i know these ships are big, I got sick on fishing boats so better safe than sorry. I don't want to wait till i'll sick to actually have the meds kick in. What are you all doing??
I'll be happy to meet you peopleparty:

:tink: Linda

Hiya Linda,

Yes, I'll be taking Dramamine. On our first cruise I got mild seasickness which put me in a bad mood with dizzyness through most of the trip. On our Alaska cruise I didn't take ANY meds, and was fine, but still very dizzy. This time I will take Dramamine because I heard that the first day might be a little choppy. Here's my story: I never get sick on anything (planes, cars, rollercoasters, boats, etc.) HOWEVER.... since a cruise ship is so large and you are "indoors" for most of it, my equilibreum gets confused and I'm usually woozy for most of it. I really don't want it to ruin this great cruise, so I'm bringing light med's.

I absolutely hate, hate, hate flying. However I don't take any med's for it. Let me know how your prescription works. If it doesn't have any side effects, maybe I'll try it in the future. I chose an itinerary that breaks up the flight into 2 parts. We're flying from CA to TX, then TX to FL. It's 2.5 hours each trip which is nicer than 5 hours straight through!

Starting April 1st I will become more protective of my health, washing my hands more and using the hand gel at work. "Airborne" always helps too. But, if you worry too much, then your body can worry itself sick, which is never fun. I keep forgetting about the part of us all going to the Caribbean! I'm getting to caught up in the ship itself!

I'm sure it'll be a blast regardless! :grouphug:

I've also seen where people have taken a page protector and taped it to the door. Then whenever you want to change the sign, you just slip one out and the other in. Not sure what we are going to use yet but the page protector is an inexpensive alternative! I know there's places online to buy the magnetic sheets but I remember reading about one place that you shouldn't get them from (but of course, I can't remember!! )

I'm trying to get going on these signs but everytime I try to sit down at the computer, something else comes up!:sad2:

Good luck on the signs! I'm sure that I'll have questions as I go (julia & nick's mom....I'll have some PM's coming your way for help)!!

I do not like being on small boats (charter, fishing, etc) because they are made to feel every single wave! However, I did not get the least bit sick on the Magic!

My doctor recommended not giving the kids anything. She said that they should not get seasick because something between their ears could handle the motion whereas adults feel it more. I have no idea how to explain it! We cruised last year when one was 3.5 and the other was 9 months. They never had a problem.

Hopefully everyone will be okay....I don't even recall seeing anyone sick on our cruise last year. Don't go with the mindset that you're going to be on meds the whole cruise! :sad2: You'll be drugged from the meds and won't be able to enjoy yourself!!

Now if this isn't exciting, what is?!?! Of course, walking onto the Disney boat has this list beat but it sure is a start to excitement!!:cool1:
