I've heard people refer to the fact that you can check-in before 4:00 pm frequently. At what time would we most likely be able to check in when we arrive? Does this happen often like I'm being told?

They will only guarentee a check-in of 4:00 so I would count on 4:00.

Our history has been that we were able to go to our room at check in is about half the time.

Either way it's okay....because we go immediately into the parks anyway. I was just curious about what time these rooms are sometimes ready. You stated about 1/2 the amount of times you've gone you were able to get in your room early. However, you neglected to mention how much earlier it was. Could you let me know approx. what time they let you check-in? We were probably going to arrive about 1:00-2:00 pm. Is this wishful thinking? Thanks.

We have been able to check into our room earlier on 3 occasions. Twice at BW and once at OKW, when we were moving there from the BW. OKW 10:00AM it was pouring and we were willing to be flexible about room location so we felt thrilled to be able to get in that early. At the BW we got in around noon both times, once in March on a Sat. and in April (week before Spring break) on a Tuesday. Hope this info helps.

You can check-in as early as you'd like. The front desk will issue your room ID's and any admission media you need, you'll get all of the resort information. If your room is ready (which depends on occupancy the prior night, when other guests have checked out and housekeeping schedules), you will get your room number at that time. If the room is not yet ready, you can call the desk from any WDW phone (they will provide the number) and check later to get the room number.

We have, at times, had our room by 10 AM- at other times not until after 4PM. In either case, you can check-in when you arrive- you just may not be able to go to your room.

Good Luck!

At OKW we arrived at 11:00. Our room was not ready until 4:30...and that was only because my DH had said ANY 1 bedroom will do. There were MANY still waiting in the "den" becuase they wanted certain locations. At VWL we checked in at 10:30 and our unit was ready. Again we didn't have any specific requests....I've never had a bad room at WDW. It just depends how full they are the previous night and of course it takes longer to clean the DVC units than it does just a hotel room.

Arrived at OKW @ 4:30am Sept 27,2001. Was able to check in to my studio and get my room. Was great after a 19 hour drive from Chicago. A quick shower and unpack before early golf. Had tee times for golf @ 10AM so everything worked out ok. Just guess it depends on time of year and occupancy.

ps: had a great time for the three days I was there. Everytrhing was super, but make sure you have a picture ID if you frequent the resorts. They were always checking.

We arrived at OKW this past Aug. 19th at 9:15 am. and got our 1 bedroom right away.

I'm guessing that if there are any rooms like you have reserved that were empty the previous night you will have the best shot at getting one of these quite early in the morning....there are probably only a few empty on any given morning and those are most likely given out on a first-come first-served basis. But I also think that if you want your room early you need to be willing to trade off on certain requests...its much less likely that a specific room, buiding #, or view will be available. Of course you could get lucky!

I have not yet stayed at a DVC resort though...so this is complete speculation.

On our last trip in April/May, we arrived in the morning. We could have had a studio right then and there. Since we were going to be staying for 9 days, we waited for our requested view to be available (4 pm). if we were staying for only a few days, it wouldn't have mattered what room we got.

On our last trip to OKW in May, we arrived at 9:30 in the morning thinking we would just drop off our bags and go to the parks. But they had a 2 Bedroom ready for us on the First Floor as requested and we took it and just moved all our luggage to our Villa then went to the parks.
