Ear-drum shattering screaming by ToT guests throughout the entire ride.

It's not a matter of lightening up, it's a matter of an experience being ruined.

Last June I went with my BFF who had never been, I had to recap the ENTIRE stretching room scene for her on HM because some man (at least 40 with a lady friend) was shreaking causing his friend to laugh hysterically through the entire thing. The same happened on RnR when a group of people decided to speak loudly through the entire pre-show (the were asked to quiet down by the CM but they refused)

So again, it's not about lightening up, it's about people having respect for others, which clearly doesn't happen anymore :confused3. What annoys me even more, is that every time I have experienced this (there are more than just the 2 mentioned above), they were NOT teens but grown adults

Why didn't you ask the CM if you could stick around and go through that scene again with the next group? If you're experience is ruined, ask a CM to help you out. Not to do anything to the teens, but I'm sure they would be willing to work with you. If nothing more, I'm sure you could have gotten fast passes.

If it's teenagers there are ways to embarrass the heck out of them and they won't do it again. ;) At least I hope so. I think if you are going to act like that and someone calls you out, that's your fault.

Either I'm noticing it more or more people are acting like twits. I remember guests doing bad stuff at Grad Nite when I was a teen but they got punished for it. But yeah there's always been jerks but now more of them get away with it seems like

This thread reminds me of the first time I rode ToT. It was a brand new ride and I, at the ripe old age of 12, wanted to show my older sister how much braver I was than her (she chickened out). Bad idea. Scream is not the word to describe what came out of me. My family thought I would pass out. It was a blood-curling "being murdered" kind of scream. Started at the first drop and didn't stop until the ride was over. I couldn't breathe. You can tell in the pics that everybody was looking at me and I looked like I was gonna die. After it was over the CM and the other guests kept asking if I was ok. I was inconsolable and it remains as the worst most horrifying disney experience I have ever had.

Have you ever turned up a radio or television or small stereo and the sound started to distort?

Seems that nowadays when I am listening to or hearing live sound and it gets loud I hear it distorting in the same fashion. Like my hearing has literally been damaged by one or more of:

1. Specifically when riding Tower of Terror, everyone else screaming in the closed space.
2. A calliope.
3. The car radio competing with the open window at 60 mph.

And I would hope most rude and selfish teens (or even adults) have come to expect getting called out on their shenanigans by us grumpy adults.

:thumbsup2 I don't hesitate to call them out!

:rotfl2:

Thats so funny...."I was so mad this girl was yelling and ruining everyone's experience that I yelled at her loud enough for her to hear me and it stopped"

I don't find anything funny with that. I'd rather hear an adult yell at a teenager (or group of teenagers...or adults for that matter) who know(s) better than to act the way they're acting and have the annoying screaming stop than to listen to the screaming throughout the entire ride. And I suspect most people who have been trapped on a non-thrill ride with a fake screamer would agree. I know everyone in line at BTMR one day in June 2011 gave an adult man a thunderous round of applause when he told a bunch of screaming teenagers in the line to "shut up and save your screams for the ride" so I know I'm not the only one who feels that way.

Maybe they do, maybe they don't, but unless they're your teens, why do you expect them to know anything or care what you think anyway. Even if they do stop it, most of the time they're only doing it to avoid confrontation and will continue just as soon as you aren't around.

They aren't going to "see the light" because you call them out.

I'm not advocating the behavior whatsoever, but as an adult you should expect it, keep aware of who you are in line with and their behavior. Very rarely will they be angels in line, then flip a switch when the lights go out. They are usually without their parents in a group of at least two. They are easily identifiable and relatively easy to avoid.

That's all I care about. Shutting them up in MY presence. Once they're out of my earshot, they're someone else's problem. :lmao:

Oh the horror. :worried:

This new generation of teenagers acting immature in a theme park. What is the world coming to?
The world is coming to this...people being so emotionally fragile that people screaming "ruins" their experience.;)

I have ridden TOT once.....yes once, I was absolutely scared out of my mind.....I was fine until the drops, I then proceeded to scream til it was over, scream from nothing but complete fear. I can ride ANYTHING else and be fine. Roller coasters make me giggle but TOT frightened me. I screamed so bad I hurt my throat. I would never scream...just for effect or to be silly....as for groups that do that, I also find it annoying but I feel like I just have to endure it.

Or being so selfish that they yell because they think it is funny, and not because they are scared. And don't care that other people can't hear the narration, or enjoy the music, or enjoy the ride.

The fact that some people are defending this behavior says it all. Now that rude behavior seems to be becoming the social norm, it's only going to get worse. Now we're learning the people who are polite & considerate of others & are just looking for a fun vacation are the ones that need to change. After all, people have a right to be as rude and inconsiderate as they want. Can you imagine what things will be like in 20 years? :sad2: FWIW, I have a 21 yr. old who isn't that far removed from his teenage years. It's not like I can't relate to teenagers. Rude behavior is wrong regardless of ones age.

Well, one time when we were there, I don't know who it was, but SOMEONE started spitting everywhere. It was just like water pouring out of the sky. I don't know how someone could possibly have that much saliva, but all sorts of people were also offended, because they were putting on plastic robes to protest the spitting.

Probably teen-agers.

ToT used to be one of our favorite rides in all of WDW. Lately, though, it seems that every time we ride, the entire ride car of guests begins screaming immediately and persistently, as if one if trying to outdo the other in how loudly and histrionically they can shriek! I'm not talking about just during the drops, (which I'd expect) I'm talking about throughout the entire course of the ride, from the time the doors initially close to the time that they finally open. When we rode in December, our ears rang for hours afterwards. I'm wondering--is this sort of screaming as if possessed by a demon a new "tradition" of sorts among ToT riders? I'd hate to think we have to give up one of our favorites, but honestly, that kind of screaming totally ruined that ride for us (as well as our hearing) Anyone else noticing this?

This happened to us on Star Tours last summer. About 6 of them screamed bloody murder the entire ride...even when the ride wasn't moving. Soo annoying as they were right behind us. It gets to a point when you just want to get off the ride. Im glad its not a common occurance but even once is too much.

You may disagree with a poster’s viewpoint, and discuss the issue, but no name calling, being sarcastic or personal attacks.

If someone was spitting on me, not gonna lie, i would prob turn around and punch the s*iT out of them. That is the most disgusting thing I have ever heard.

Nothing has changed except you have gotten old. I don't mean to insult you. It is not a personal attack -- it happens to all of us. We grow old and the world around us seems to have changed but it is US who have. Trust me. Evolution is very very slow. Human nature has not changed in the past 20 years. Perspective (yours) has. Try to relax and make light of the little things. You will live longer, I promise! :)
