I am going in March and i was reading in my Birnbaums book about something called E-Ride nights at Magic Kingdom.... Could someone tell me exactly what this is? and how can i find out if will be happening on one of my nights while staying at Animal Kingdom?? thank you vicki

How old is the book you're using? I think it might be out of date.

They used to have E Nights where guests staying at on-site resorts could purchase a ticket to stay in the Magic Kingdom for three hours after regular closing. All of the "headliners" would be open as well as some other attractions. The tickets were not too much -- about $15 if I recall correctly. As I understand it, the name "E Rides" is from the really old ticketing system where you actually paid for individual rides/attractions. The basic, mild rides were "A" priced, the "B", and so on up to "E" which would be Space Mountain type rides. I remember going as a child, but I don't remember the individual tickets. Now you pay to enter the park and it's all inclusive.

E Nights were replaced by the Extra Magic Hours program a couple/few years ago.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

Welcome to the DIS!

E Ride nights were nights that certain rides in The Magic Kingdom were open to guests that bought an "E" ticket. The tickets were limited in number and it would allow you to stay in the Magic Kingdom after it closed. The rides that were open were walk on!
However now that Disney hotel guests have the Extra Magic Hour, there are no E Nights.

my book is the 2005 version..... but i think i am going to get passporter book this weekend.... thanks for the info

yeah E-night hasn't been around for years. The new thing is Extra Magic Hours. This is either 1 hour before the park opens or 3 hours after the park closes to Disney resort guests only.

E-night was still around in May 2004. By our May 2005 trip it was gone and replaced with EMH.

Go to the main DIS page, or it may even be at the top of this page and click on Park Hours. This has all the Extra Magic Hours posted and parade and fireworks times which was extremely helpful in planning my trip. I bought a travel guide and found that it was not accurately updated and frankly with how much info is available on this site, and Allears.net, I would not waste your money on a travel guide, unless you just rally prefer hardcopy.

I was just looking at the page you mentioned. Am I correct in seeing that the hours are not lind up correctly with the name of the park/event? The times alongside each name is actually higher than alongside. makes it a bit confusing!

I have not seen the hours on that site, but suggest you try allearsnet.com.

We went to WDW in late june 2004 and took advantage of this twice. It was the best thing going. I called the 800 number several times before finding people at Disney that even knew anything about it. You may want to call a few times before comepletely giving up on it. I was told several times that they weren't doing it anymore months before our trip. By the time we got there I had talked to a few people who knew more and were able to give me the schedule. Also, the more people ask for something, the more likely it will return (Yeah! Right!)

Anyway don't completely give up until you get there. One other thing was that you had to stay at certain hotels. Either on property or at just a few other hotels. We stayed at the Hotel Royal Plaza (pre-remodel) and it was the least expensive off-property hotel offering them. Even the concierge didn't know what they were until I waited for him to get better info from another employee.

Totally worth it if they are still doing it. Good Luck.

Also, the water parks are the best in the world and less crowded than the 4 major parks. So totally fun and there's one where you can swim with small sharks, there is a wave pool which was very cool (and I live in California.) and the Humunga Cowabunga (butt-wedgie.)

Have a ton of fun. I wish it was me, but since it's not I'm glad it's you.
