We are a family of two (plus one due in Dec :lovestruc) and are trying our hardest to stick to a budget and start saving instead of spending! However, we eat out a lot mainly because I am always trying to figure out something to cook with what is in my pantry/fridge, get frustrated and give up. I figure, cut out the eating out and gain a lot of positives in return and I came across someone talking about this site... has anyone used it and if you have, what are your thoughts on it? Are the recipes good / easy, are they prices listed spot on or way off? Thanks!

We have been using this plan for a year and love it. The prices are accurate. The meals are really good and recipes are easy to follow. Even DH can follow the recipes. We are a family of 3. Love the fact the shop:goodvibesping list is prepared
for me, as well as the menu. No more trying to figure out what's for dinner. This plan is worth every penny.

I love e-mealz! If you are a cook who loves to be in the kitchen whipping up new recipes, this is probably not a good fit for you. That description does NOT fit me! :rotfl2: I think the meals are easy and work very well with my busy evenings. I use the Kroger plan and it is usually on the money. I've been using it almost two years now and have only needed to change my list in the grocery store a few times. Those times were always based on the fact that the price for meat was for a large package instead of the pound or two that I needed according to emealz. If it is a good price you could buy it and throw the rest in the freezer. Sometimes you have to do a little detective work in your store. I thought I knew my store really well, but then discovered items that I had not seen or had no idea that they would be in that area.If it is listed on the shopping list, then that item at that price is there, you may just have to look for it a little bit. For example, refrigerated cheese tortellini. At my store, the "brand name" version is kept in the refrigerated department over near the cheeses and yogurt. But the Kroger brand version is on the other side of the store near the deli. If I shop the first day that the plan is scheduled for, the meats/fish are not always out there yet. The guys at the meat counter are used to me showing them my lists. :goodvibes

My kids really like the recipes, a lot. I've just become very good at looking at the recipes and if there is something that I know my kids will not eat, I substitute a meal that I know we like. Very easy! And for $5 a month, it's sooo nice to have the planning done!:thumbsup2

I love E-Mealz too and tell my friends at work about it. The best part for me is when I come home from work I know just what to make and the meals usually take no more than 30-40 minutes to make. Some require a little prep like starting the crock pot in the morning or soaking a french toast casserole overnight.

The only part I'm not too wild about is that I use the "meals for two" menus for DH and I and we always have leftovers. It's really more like a meal for three or for two really big eaters - so I eat the leftovers for lunch.

For us the money savings comes mostly from buying only what we need and not wasting too much food. But not having to figure out what to make for dinner - priceless!

I really liked it except that I would forget to log in and get the menus constantly. I really wish they would email you and then I would be able to keep them in my inbox. I canceled because I felt like I wasn't getting my money's worth because of that. The actual menus and recipes are great!

thanks for all the imput everyone! I may have to convince DH but I think we are going to try it and see! :cool1:
