Do you know if e-cigarettes and e-liquid are allowed to take on an airplane? First time flying. I know you can not smoke on the flight, just want to make sure it's not a problem to bring with on the flight. I figured some one here would know. Thanks!

Yes, you can.

Not sure this link will work, but...http://apps.tsa.dhs.gov/mytsa/cib_results.aspx?src=tsawebsite

Check or Carry-on

You may transport this item in carry-on baggage or in checked baggage. For items you wish to carry-on, you should check with the airline to ensure that the item will fit in the overhead bin or underneath the seat of the airplane.

If you go here - http://www.tsa.gov/traveler-information/prohibited-items you can search for items and it will tell you if it is allowed in checked and/or carry-on.

I don't smoke and no nothing about these e-cigarettes. Are they the same thing as vaps? If they are they sure blow off a lot of smoke. I know it isn't the same type of smoke that is from a regular cigarette, but from what I've seen from people using vaps is it blows off a ton of smoke and I wouldn't think people on a plane would even like that.

I flew last week on American and they offered at the gate to gate check carry on luggage for free. One thing they mentioned was the items that should not remain in the bag and e-cigarettes were one.

I'm thinking the OP is just asking whether the e-cigs can be in their carry on bags, or if they have to be in their checked bags. Not that they want to USE them during the flight.

If you read the OP she said she wasn't going to be smoking ON the plane.
OP, yes you sure can bring them on

Sorry I missed that in the sentence. Plus my question was more if an e-cigarette is the same as a vap.

...and what they produce is not smoke - it is steam, as in water vapor, which is why the name "vape-ing" has been applied (like smoking is to a cigarette that burns and produces smoke).

Yes, I knew it was a water vapor smoke, but from what I've seen from when people puff the vaps it lets off much more water vapor smoke then a regular cigarette would when someone exhales.

Some of them do seem to, not all. I'm not sure what makes the difference because I don't vape. But I was just wanting to clarify your use of the term "smoke" because smoke is smoke and steam (water vapor) is, well, steam.

That makes sense and it is water steam that come out when they exhale, but it looks a lot like smoke still.

Yes, it sure does at a glance and I think that was a design feature of the product which was originally developed as a smoking-cessation method. But now because the "look of it" is so alarming to advocates of non-smoking, vaping is banned in a lot of the same places smoking is. This seems to be quite a knee-jerk reaction as to my knowledge there is no conclusive evidence that 2nd hand "vape" is harmful; many kinds don't even contain nicotine. There is also an argument made that vaping is a "gateway" to smoking, which I find absurd. I don't know one single smoker that graduated up from vaping - it's practically 100% the opposite. And smoking is very much on the decline - it's certainly not "cool" anymore. My DS (18) wouldn't even think of trying it even though DH & I have smoked his whole life. He also doesn't have any friends that smoke either, although some of them do dabble with the vape.

If the vaping doesn't harm people around them then I agree it should not be banned. I guess some people just don't like to be in an area where a cloud of steam/smoke fills the air. I am a non smoker, but I also have several friends who do smoke and when I and the other of my non smoking friends are around them they just respect use and smoke in an area that is not near us. I am fine with that. If people want to smoke they sure are entitled to do it. As for the vaping I have seen many teens using them in my area and I asked on of the teen girls that live in the same apartment building why are all these teens vaping? She told me that they are doing it because there friends are doing it. She then continued to say that most of them did not even smoke cigarettes before they started vaping. I then asked her how do teens under 18 get a vaping device to do this? She said they buy them off of Ebay and places like that.

I would do this last min. they change the rules all the time. sometimes lighters ok sometimes not, sometimes its only matches. I would double check with airline when checking your bags... or just put it in checked bags to save the hassle.

lol and omg op you started the smoking vap debate. run every one hide....

Not to worry, you should have no problem at all bringing your e-cig on your flight :) I know it's so confusing these days. I never know what I can and can't bring! Wishing you a safe flight.

I tend to get irritated by the smell of some of the vapes. Not an "angry" type of irritated, but a "ow, my head" type. Lol. Wish I wasn't so sensitive to smells sometimes ;) I know vapes aren't for me, but I'd never be the type to lecture anyone against them. I don't know much about them anyway, they've never sparked my interest.
