E-Bay verification ?

Sorry, but no way is anyone getting my checking account number! If I have to stop bidding on e-bay, so be it! Oh well, it was fun, but I can find most of the same stuff in department stores.

Does this verification apply to auctions where the seller will take a money order, cashier's check, or personal check? I've just always used my credit card for PayPal because it was so easy. There is no way I'm giving them my checking account number just to get verified!
You do realize your checking account number is printed on every check you write, don't you? It's not exactly secure. ;) The more important thing is that you're giving them permission to access your checking account. Say, for example, you lose a dispute with a buyer, and they decide to give you a refund... Paypal can withdraw the funds from your account without your approval. That's why I opened a second (free, of course) checking account strictly for Paypal use. I don't keep a large sum in there, and they have no access to my household checking account.

Anyway, this only applies to Paypal purchases. If your seller will take other methods of payment (money order, etc.), you can ignore Paypal altogether.

Again, just curious about people's feelings on the PayPal subject.....Why do you feel safer having your credit card information listed in PayPal than your checking account. I believe funds in PayPal are FDIC insured as a pass through instituition. Do you ever pay bills online? I have different things set up for automatic withdrawl payments from checking. Actually the only time I've EVER had a problem with paying a bill was when I mailed a check and it never got where it was intended to go because of a postal screw up. When I pay for something online as a withdrawl from my checking I have a receipt right there that shows I paid....like when I pay my Disney VISA from their website.

I believe my only verification was through PayPal, not eBay, but perhaps I've forgotten my initial joining of eBay. I feel more secure paying through PP because I don't have to share my info with anyone else. If I was buying at all different stores, I'd have to either write a check or give up my credit card to lots of different people.

Ebay now owns Paypal, which might not have been the case when you signed up.
