Dyson Vacuum

I have a golden retriever that stays in the house, so I purchased the Dyson Animal...love it. I could not believe how much hair it picked up!! Best money I have ever spent.

Yes you can pick from four models I think. What makes you choose the pink one over the yellow one? I am trying to decide.

i'm not sure, i don't have pets, and would use it on hard floors, furniture, stairs, cars and medium plush carpet........i thought the pink one sounded like the yellow one without all the toys.....maybe not??/ help!!!!

Well I thought they were the same except the pink ones attachments were harder to use and they were both the same price.

I just ordered the yellow one. If I dont like it, I will return it and try the pink one. Most important was to buy it now for the $100 GC.

total cost w/ free shipping and discount was $380 including tax. I did click thru sunshine too

My Dyson does not have it (The Animal-DC14). That was one feature I liked on my Sears.

Is it sick to love a vacuum? I won't even let anyone else touch the thing. It's mine .... ALL MINE!!!! :hyper:

It's okay to love your vacuum, just don't "love" your vacuum!

:sad2: I just got my Dyson this weekend, so I spent today vacuuming! I guess the Eureka I had was pretty good, because I didn't get that much more picked up with the Dyson. The pet hair was my big problem (around the baseboards and corners) and still is a problem, as the pet hair attachment is still too big. I find the attachments really hard to use and the cord is a pain to rewind. I almost wish I would have saved the $400.00!

I just wanted to add that IMHO, Consumer Reports isn't all it's cracked up to be. For example, they rate the 2004 Saturn Ion as a terrible car, one you should never buy used because it's totally unreliable, and guess what? Mine has never given me a moment's trouble. :confused3

I guess I tend to rely more on the experiences others have had with a product than a magazine review ... but of course, YMMV.

ITA, I don't bother with CR anymore. I prefer to check out sites where people have written reviews about products. For ME, that info. is better provided that there are a number of reviews.

I've had my purple Animal Dyson for two or three years. I LOVE IT.
As far as stairs go, it isn't the greatest, though. The attachment that came with the animal (rotating brushes) is OK. Mine slips sometimes and loses suction so I have to readjust it. It still does a good job, but a little harder to use than some machines. DH insists on using the upholestry attachment because it doesn't slip, but he is tearing it up :furious: . Oh well, at least he is helping out. :lovestruc However, it is so great in every other way that I will tolerate the stair issue as I believe it is so far superior in every other way.

I don't think my Animal came with a rotating brush, is it especially for steps? Or is it the pet hair attachment? I used that on the steps and it didn't get into the corners at all.

O.K., know I'm confused. I thought the pink one and the yellow were exactly the same( DC 07?) I thought just the color was changed for the breast cancer fund raiser. Why would the attachments be harder on the pink one versus the yellow one? Also, for all of you Dyson pros: Is it true the 07 is not a good model to buy because I heard all the kinks weren't worked out untill the 15 models? Then again, they have to be making new 07 models still, why wouldn't they apply the new changes? Please help!! Tink

We have the dyson animal 14 and love it! Picks up great but my favorite thing is how easy it is to empty -- WONDERFUL!

Hmm...not sure. I never read manuals or directions (maybe that is why my attachment has to be slipped back into place to retain suction :rotfl: )
I'm talking about the attachment that has the turbo button on it. Does that explain it better? I agree it doesn't get corners or right at the edges where the stairs meet and I end up using a different attachment for that. This could be why I hate vacuuming the stairs :) . I'll gladly take advice from any Dyson user who is successful with stairs.

The best thing for me about the Dyson is how every piece easily comes apart. It is very easy to clean the vacuum, the brushhead comes out and you can remove clogs without a problem. I had also been through a lot of cheap vacuums but this one will last longer. my only real complaint is that I don't like having to fool around with the hose when I need to change attachments. I hate having to pull the hose out, reverse the head etc...

How heavy are the vacs? Do the transport easily from floor to floor?

I've had my yellow Dyson for almost 2 years and love it! I will never buy another brand of vaccuum. I have an orange kitty and a parade of kids and DHs work boots to contend with. I highly recommend it! :thumbsup2

Dysons are very heavy. I don't know how many pounds they are.

My one big complaint about my Dyson (and every bagless vac I've owned) is that after awhile they start to STINK. Even with regular cleaning of the filter, sometimes I turn on the vac and it smells like wet dog. (We have a dog.) I also have a Kenmore Progressive Upright vac (with a bag) and I have to say it's just as good the Dyson. It's a great vac.

I have the Dyson Animal we have two dogs, a cat two ferrets and a Cockatoo. My Dyson animal sucks! Really Really well. I have allergies and there's no way I would breathe so clearly without my Dyson Animal.
