Dyson Vacuum

How is the dyson on bare floors. We have laminent flooring in our living room & hallway and ALWAYS cleaning up dog hair. How does it do?
We've got bare wood in the kitchen and the Dyson does great! The little wand tool that rolls out slips right under the toe kick and gets up any bits that have worked their way in there, too. LOVE the Dyson!! We replaced an Oreck and it's amazing the difference in cleaning!

I use the attachment on our area rug & it works fine.
Which attachment do you use on the area rugs? We only have the regular attachments that come with the DC07 (the crevice tool, brush tool and the upholstery tool). Do you have an extra attachment that works better on the area rugs?

I realize that, of course. :)

My Ion example was just one of many I personally know of. I wasn't going to take the time to list them all.

I would think the replies to this thread comparing people's experiences in owning a Dyson vs. other brands CR rates highly reinforce my point. ;)
Lots of folks here do seem to rave about them (its almost "Crock" like :) ) -- especially those who have pets. Considering CR ranked one of the Dysons 6th out of the 38 it reviewed, I wouldn't necessarily ding CR for getting it wrong. Indeed, take a look at some of the reviews of the Dyson models over at Amazon (reverse the listing so u see lowest first) and you'll see some commentary that would appear to indicate that this may not be the best choice for all buyers. That being said, even with those poor reviews, the overall rating given these vacuums at Amazon is still extremely good.

I bought the Hoover one that CR seemed to like, Wind Tunnel or something. It was a "Best Buy" at that time, not necessarily the TOP rated, but a great buy for the $$. So far it seems good to me.

After reading all the Croc posts, I tried some on today. I like. I will wait and buy those Disney ones though.

I took the plunge and got a Dyson today. We got the Animal DC70 (really wanted the Target Pink...it was so pretty) but we need the pet hair attachment. We are thinking of getting a sister for our Lab....double fur! I had a $150.00 gift card I wanted to use, but couldn't since I used my 10% Target Rewards and got a gift card for buying one. It will even out in the long run since we shop at Target a lot.

Is it worth the price if you only have carpet in the bedrooms and tile everywhere else? Also, we have no pets. Thanks!

I can't tell you how much I love my Dyson Animal. I have a Siberian Husky. She sheds about an entire average sized dog everyday! I've had the Dyson for about 3 yrs. Best $500 I ever spend.

YES, it works great great on tile/hardwood/lynolium (sp) etc.

I got the pink one this morning at Target. It was $399, I got the $100 Target gift card, and since I could not find my Target VISA card, they let me open a new one and I got 500 extra reward points plus 10% off.

Good deal and Target is donating $40 to breast cancer research for each one of them sold. I want one of the extra attachments so I amgoing to pick one up at Bed Bath and Beyond.

I also bought the Pink Dyson this morning at Target, got 10% off by opening a Target card and received the $100 gift card. I hope I bought the right model since we have a Golden Retriever who sheds alot. It seemed to me that the difference between the less expensive models and the Dyson Animal is that there are more attachments with the Dyson Animal. I figured that with my Hoover Windtunnel that I have had I only really use one or two of the attachments. I also am so excited to have a pink vacuum (I know, this is crazy)!!!

I love my Dyson! Just tried it on the car and the pet hair attachment really picks up the dog hair! (Our lab loves to go bye-bye). The attachments aren't very easy to use, hopefully I can get used to that.

The purple (animal) and pink/yellow Dyson are exactly the same model - the purple animal just has more attachments. We have two dogs and decided the attachments were not worth the extra $100.

I was told the dyson ball has been discontinued - it got poor ratings. I would think twice before buying it, personally.

I thought the Dyson was a fad - so we listened to Consumer Reports and went through 3 vaccums in 2 years. CR obviously doesn't vaccum very often as they were WRONG WRONG WRONG when it came down to the best vaccum. After the 3rd vaccum, I decided to fork out the cash on the Dyson. Best decision ever!

I have berber carpet and have had no pulls on it - I think it depends on the tightness of your loops and the quality of berber. I have no idea how our quality is (just picked it from the builder showroom!) but we are hard on our carpet, and I have two dogs that run laps through my house, and we have NO pulls while others get tons. I was told by a carpet guy that berber comes in different grades of quality and if you get a larger loop on it, it will pull easily.

We use Dyson (it's called Dyson in this house - a member of our family!) on hard surfaces and berber carpet. Also use it in the car, upholstery, anything we can!!

I got my Dyson as an anniversary present 3 years ago. The one year wedding anniversary is cleaning equipment, right? :rotfl2:

I LOVE it! We have 2 Rottweilers and they shed a lot of black hair. The Dyson has no problem pulling all that fur out of the carpets. Even after 3 years, it works great. We have the DC07 (the yellow one) and the only difference between it and "the animal" is the attachments. We figured we see how it worked and then buy any attachments we might need. So far, we haven't needed any. I would recommend saving the $100 and getting just the base model (the DC07). You can always buy the attachments if you need them. My DH balked at the price, but now agrees that it was worth it. We went through 3 vaccuums in 3 years before the Dyson so when we got married and bought a new house, we decided to scrap the crap and get real vaccuum. Like I said, it is worth every penny!

!!

The pink Target dyson is the 07 version which is not as good as the 14 version. Same pickup stuff, but the handle which turns into a wand is much different on the 07 version. It's easier on the 14. I love the pink vac! It's cute! :rotfl2:

I decided to go for it. I bought The Animal (DC14) at Bed, Bath, and Beyond yesterday. I used a 20% off coupon and saved $109 dollars. This was a better deal than Target. Tried it out last night and it works GREAT! What a difference! :thumbsup2

Hopefully, the will be the last vacuum I'll buy for a long, long, time. My Sears vacuum only lasted 3 years and spent about $300 for that one.

Good to know! I sat in the aisle at Target kicking myself for buying the yellow now that the pink was for sale - I tried to figure out how I could afford another Dyson for upstairs ;) Knowing that my yellow is easier to work makes me feel better... I wanted that pink vacuum!

OK, so all this talk has convinced me. I think I get the best deal this way:

Order online, click thru sunshine 1% back.
10% off by clicking thru sunshine and free shipping.
$100 gift card
Use target card for bonus points.

Now, which one?? Pink or yellow???? Opininons please???

If you are getting the DC 07 I would get the pink one. We got the DC 14 because I wanted the pet hair attachment, seperately it cost $69.00, we also got a carpet cleaning kit.
