Lunch - Yak and Yeti and again a new restaurant for us, although in 08 we did share one meal at the counter service part of the restaurant.

The Pre-trip plan
I am planning on ordering the lettuce cups as my app, we love them at PF Changs, but will we love them here? For my entree I am thinking the Honey chicken so we can share, if she doesn’t want to share, I’ll go with the tempura shrimp, and I want the fried wontons for dessert. And I am sure her choices will be the Lo mein with fried rice as her side and we will probably try to order the sorbet as her dessert, if not tofutti it will be. This was the first restaurant where the birthday girls ordering became strange. They had her order a kids meal, but an adult appetizer and dessert, odd but we went with it.

So the birthday girl ordered

APP - pot stickers - steamed - good
ENTREE - the kids lo mein with fried rice and applesauce on the side - good
DESSERT - the sorbet trio - the lemon was the best, the raspberry didn’t taste that good, mango was good

Me
APP - the lettuce wraps -since she wanted to share, they altered them slightly so they were shellfish safe. - interesting - good, but I like P F Changs better.
ENTREE - Honey chicken with brown rice - good, decent Chinese
DESSERT - fried wontons with vanilla sauce, ice cream, and strawberries, they were ok, but not worth the hype, the vanilla sauce was the best part.

Probably wouldn’t eat here again, It was ok, but there are so many other places that we haven’t tried yet.

Check came to $ 74.42
Total that would have been spent had we done this OOP $ 214.76

Dinner - will be our first signature meal of the trip - Artist Point and our fisrt signature meal at Disney, we have never attempted on before

The pre trip thoughts crab cake for my app, salmon for my entree, and the berry cobbler for dessert. I am guessing the birthday girl will choose, watermelon, salmon add the chocolate puzzle. Again this is new to us.
We loved this restaurant, we spent the next several days comparing this meal to every other one we ate.

BREAD - very good sourdough - with butter with pink salt. They even brought out some olive oil for the birthday girl.

The birthday girl was given an adult menu, when we were seated, which made her so happy.

Birthday girl - says everything here was delicious

APP - she had a hard time choosing and decided to go with the watermelon off the kids menu, since most of the apps contained, shellfish or dairy. - good
ENTREE - The Salmon - delicious the truffle chips were gross (Until about a year ago she wouldn’t try salmon, now she asks me to make it on a regular basis)
DESSERT - the kids, chocolate puzzle came with two cookies and had a candle in it.- great (She ate the puzzle had the cookies packed to go and we never did try them)
DRINK - pot of hot tea - the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party- love it

Me

APP - Dungeness Crab Cake with Frisee Lettuce, Heirloom apples and Meyer Lemon Ailio - These were fabulous. I was tempted to cancel the salmon and order more of these, but I really wanted to try the salmon, so I didn’t.
ENTREE - Cedar Plank- roasted King salmon with roasted baby fennel, marble potatoes, Pinot Noir Beurre Rouge, and Crispy Truffle Chips.
The salmon, the potatoes the sauce all tasted wonderful. The truffle chips, yuck, yuck, yuck but since I don’t like mushrooms, I didn’t think I would like them any way, but I thought I should at least give it a once in a lifetime try.
DESSERT - I decided to go with the Valrhona Chocolate Terrine with Ararena Cherries and Salt Hazelnut Brittle. Really rich, really good, I did not finish it.
BEVERAGE - pot of hot tea - Vanilla Bean - love vanilla tea and make it at home frequently.

This was a wonderful meal, we will definitely go back, we had even talked about canceling other meals and going back here for dinner another night, but didn’t.

Check came to $ 126.63 (2 adult entrees, 1 adult & 1 child dessert and app)
Total that would have been spent had we done this OOP $ 341.39

Explain this to me...I dont understand why the check is different if you go OOP?....So you had to tip on 126.63 yes?

Trying to figure out this meal plan thing out.

You can copy the link to your photos from photobucket (just click the links that are offered to you at the bottom or side of your pictures)and then paste it here (left click, select the "paste" option). Looking forward to seeing some pics! :)

yes i had to tip on 126.63

as the trip goes along u will see how much the food would have cost remember i only spent 400 to upgrade from the free dining for 8 night trip so you see at the end of day 2 i have almost "spent that much if I had not been using credits to pay.

No but I don't get how the totals are different. Don't they just give you the bill like if you were buying OOP and you tip on that?...I guess I just dont understand the billing park...do you have a receipt you could scan. (I hve only been to disney once 20 years ago so this dining plan confuses me a bit :) )

Is this how it works? The receipt they give you, is it like in a normal restaurant that shows the total amount. Is this how to figure out how much to tip? You give them your room key to take off your dining credit. Do they give you another receipt to show 1 less credit and 0 $ amount. Can you keep the receipt with the $ amount on it?

some resturants let me keep the reciept with the $amount on it but most didnt, i just kept writing the amount into by reservation # spreedsheet that i carried around with me

Day three - January 12th

Brings us to three new restaurants.
Breakfast

The pre trip plans

Kat Cora’s restaurant for breakfast, the birthday girl loves food network as much as me so this is a must do, It will probably be the blueberry orange pancakes for me and the mickey waffles for her.
The actual - POP food court

We decided to cancel the planned breakfast ADR, and grab stuff at the POP food court, Birthday Girl had a chocolate chip muffin, using a snack credit, I paid OOP for a cheese omelet with potatoes, we both used our refillable mugs for iced tea. These were ok, nothing spectacular, but fuel to get us going. Birthday Girl says her muffin was good, I had a bite and thought it was dry.

Cant find recipt - so I am not going to add this to the total

LUNCH - Chef de France

Pre trip thoughts

Lunch today hopefully will bring sighting of a famous Chef, Chef Remey that is, Lobster bisque, mac and cheese and creme brulee for me and the birthday girl, and the birthday girl maybe the fish and sorbet, but she may choice a burger.

The Actual

BREAD - we got a little loaf in a white paper bag, this was really good and we had them bring us more. - good, delicious, and awesome are birthday girls remarks.

The birthday girl

APP - the puffed cheese pastry, with salad, (she really wanted this, so I let her order it and she ate about half)- good, I got a bit of this and it was really good, one of the best app choices for kids all week.

disney256.jpg

ENTREE - Pasta with chicken strip, came with a tomato sauce on the side. Pasta was good, chicken was good, sauce wasnt, tasted like tomato soup, she thought, she doesnt like tomato soup I tasted it and it had no seasoning in it at all and was cold
disney259.jpg

disney260.jpg

DESSERT - strawberry sorbet, it came out with a candle in it and some very handsome french waiters singing Happy Birthday. -good
disney263.jpg

disney261.jpg

BEVERAGE - hot tea

Me

APP - Lobster Bisque - very good, I ate every drop and really enjoyed it, it was a cool day, and a perfect soup day, I probably should have ordered a second bowl to eat as my entree.
disney257.jpg

ENTREE - I ordered the Gratin de Macaroni - yuck, I picked at it, but there was way way too much nutmeg, why anyone would put that in mac and cheese is beyond me, the melted cheese on top, was the best part
disney258.jpg

DESSERT - Profiteroles with ice cream and chocolate sauce. - these were really good love them one of my favorite desserts of the trip.
disney264.jpg

BEVERAGE - Hot tea

Probably would go back, but I would just order something different as my entree.

Check came to $ 51.50
Total that would have been spent had we done this OOP $ 392.89

Your daughter is taller than I am :rotfl2:

Signing in and looking forward to the rest of the reviews! :thumbsup2 What did you think of Wolfgang Puck Cafe? Thinking about WPE for our next trip, but we'll also be on the DxDP, so we can do WPC if that's a good choice.
