DVD recorders....worth it?

My DH bought me a GOVideo DVD recorder for my b-day. sigh - it is a piece of crap. The power button only works sporatically so I'm returning it. I'm thinking about maybe investing in a DVD recorder/VCR player - anyone got one that they love?

I have one that I hate - it's an Emerson and it was top of the line one year ago when I bought it. We had problems immediately and I wish we'd taken it back. The DVD player doesn't work half the time

We are looking into getting one also. The Sony really looks like a good one. I believe you can even plug your Video Camera into and record directly from that.
