I was reading on the Boards how another bride cut costs by choosing the DVD only option with Randy Chapman. I'm considering this but need to know where or how would I print all the photos I want to do? What is the cost associated with that? Who do you recommend? Where can I make my own album? For those who chose the DVD only option did you regret not having the pictures already printed?

All input is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

We are going with the DVD only option. Currently I use shutterfly. I can print 4x6 at Target for super cheap but we are more than likely going to order a book of all our wedding pictures. A 12X12 starts at around $44.

I print my wedding photos at Mpix.com, which is the consumer version of Miller's Lab, the place professional photographers use. You get the same high quality prints at a fraction of a cost. They are a few cents more expensive than Snapfish, Shutterfly, etc., but the quality is better and you can choose different finishes, like metallic or true black-and-white.

I make my albums using Blurb.com.

Thanks Carrie. What do you mean my metallic finishes? :)

When we got our proof CDs from Randy, we uploaded the ones we wanted to send out as Christmas presents onto the Wallgreens site, had them printed with a matte finish. We had them mailed to us. They weren't expensive at all, they looked great, and we had them in about 3 days.

I agree with Carrie, mpix really is great. What she means by the different finishes is that if you look at photos from a professional studio compared to ones from a regular store (Rite Aid, Sams, Snapfish, etc.) there is a diffent quality to the image. The photo paper itself is slightly thicker and the surface is much nicer too. Here's a comparison of the different types.

Mpix also offers some of the nicer albums too, more along the quality of what you would expect in a wedding album from a regular photographer. Yes, its a lot of money, but you still save in the long run.

If you dont want to go down the walgreens/costco avenue, I am sure in this ecconomy once you get home you could shop around to professional places and get some good prices. It would be an easy job for them since all they would be doing is printing the pics, not taking them.
