Why choose? Do both!
DH is nervous about trying to fly in and make the ship all in one day so we do one day beforehand. Last time, we did BLT, this time VWL.
Then, after, it's nice to know you have a little time before you have to adjust to reality. Last time, it was BWV, this time also BWV with the hope of changing to AKV at 7 months.
If I had to pick one, I'd go with after because it'll make getting off the boat less traumatic.
