DVC Vets, room towel question

sorry to bump this thread back up, but i'm a little bit concerned about the experiences that SueM and SimbaCub mentioned regarding the number of towels that are supposed to be in the unit when you check-in.

i never really gave this topic much thought before because i'd always assumed that the number of towels you are entitled to depends on the room occupancy you tell MS about when you make the reservation.

for example, if you book a 1bedroom, and tell MS that there will be 4 adults in the room, then you should be allowed to get 4-4-4 (bath towels-hand towels-washcloths). and if you only had 2 adults, 1 child, you would only be allowed to get 3-3-3, and so on. if DVC wishes to save some money by always "understocking" the units with less towels than the max, then that is fine with me, as long as members are allowed to ask for the rest of them after check-in. and preferably, as DisneyDoll said, members should be able to get the rest of the towels without any hassle, or worse, any type of argument with housekeeping over the rules.

i just wonder if this issue should be somehow be brought up to DVC mgmt. i know, it seems like such a minor and some would argue ridiculous  issue, but it's yet another example of the types of problems that come up because DVC did not clearly define in writing the rules/policies. not to mention the typo in the Member Guidebook with incorrect info, so you couldn't even whip out your Guidebook to prove anything if you wanted to.

your thoughts?

The problem with that is when housekeeping makes up the room, they probably do not know how many people will occupy it especially with the new "room ready" policy. I think the current system works fine, enough towels for the maximum. 2 people in a 1 bedroom paid the same amount of points as 4 people in a 1 bedroom.

right, i see what you're saying. the concern then is regarding what happens when you arrive in your room, and there is not the correct number of towels in the room?

in theory, you'd just call housekeeping to ask for the rest of the towels. but apparently there is some confusion about what the correct number of towels allowed is... leading to some housekeeping CMs being argumentative. (i would hate to experience that)

so, is the current Member Guidebook incorrect or not?
did it indeed used to be 4-4-4 for Studios + 1bdrms, 8-8-8 for 2bdrms, and 12-12-12 for GVs?

since the Towel Package for $6 is 4-4-4, you would think that it should be 4-4-4 per bathroom, right?

my point is, if the Member Guidebook now is incorrect (it says 4-2-2), then shouldn't we get DVC to issue an official statement correcting that error? then housekeeping can't argue with you about that.

I'm unclear about the towels not being 4 of everything (per bathroom), too. I always assumed that was what we would get until I saw it mentioned about the Guidebook "typo" here. The "typo" appears in the previous guidebook as well. It wouldn't hurt to get a clarification from DVC.

I would like Disney to go the route of many other condo resorts we stay in.

Damage is charged to the credit card you leave. If you find something broken in the unit when you arrive, it's your responsiblity to report it as broken or damaged. This also aids in keeping things fixed. Kinda like renting a car, any damage before you get the car is already noted.

A set number of towels are in the unit, if you need more they do not charge but the towels are counted for when you leave. They leave with you, then you pay for them.

Smoking in a NS unit results in a $500 recleaning fee.

Damaged units beyond normal use is also charged to the last person using the unit.

You sign an agreement when you check in.

I am sure the problem with this is, Disney would never agree to these restrictions on a cash guest. Therefore some would probably be against rules for members, but no rules for nonmembers.

When we rent a condo at the beach, everyone has the same rules.

I do think it would really cut costs for keeping the units in good shape and repair.

Except they are not stocking for the maximum number of people in the room.
The person I talked to in Housekeeping said they don't know how many people will be in each unit, so they stock "per bathroom", which she said meant 4-2-2 for each bathroom.
There were only 4 hand towels, 5 washcloths (an extra one used to decorate a tub mat) and a total of 8 bath towels counting all the towels in the whole 2 bedroom unit. We had the same number a year ago when we stayed at OKW, but I called Housekeeping, explained we had 8 people and they sent 4 more hand towels and 4 washcloths at no charge. When DH and I stayed in a one bedroom at BCV in July, there were 4 bath towels, but only 2 hand towels and 2 washcloths. That was fine, since it was just the 2 of us, but I don't think this is an OKW only problem.
When I get time, I do plan to write MS about it.
