DVC touring incentives?

I want to thank anyone who takes the time to answer this in advance.

Does the DVC offer any incentives to tour or take in the presentation? I think my husband will be interested...if only I could GET him there! Any thoughts?

I have heard that DVC doesn't use the high-pressure tactics of other timeshares. Is that true? I would be interested in anyone's experiences.

Thanks!

It's definitely not a hard sell. At least not compared to other timeshare presentations!

I also agree they do not push you.

Our family of 4 stayed at Saratoga Springs last September during Free dining. At that time, we were not DVC Members. There was an invitation left on the dining room table to take the DVC tour with the incentive of a $100.00 gift certificate upon completion of the tour. It was so beastly hot and humid that we did indeed take the tour the day we were to depart. There was absolutely no pressure, only pleasant smiles and a sincere willingness to make our time more enjoyable. At the conclusion we were given a packet of information - and a $100.00 gift certificate. The certificate could have been applied to our bill (we had already paid), could have been saved for a future trip - though there was an expiration date - or spent at any number of shops throughout Disney World. After our ice cream sundaes, we were driven to Epcot for our final few hours before departing where we spent our certificate at Mouse Gear. It was great! We purchased several jackets and the current Pin Traders book - all with Disney's compliments!

Wow!

With our first purchase (BWV), we just got some cookies and coffee that were available in the BW's models set-up :sad2: , plus a canvas DVC bag. With our second (SSR), we got ice cream (no sundaes! :sad1: ). And with our third (AKV),nothing at the time because we did that over the phone (although we did get another DVC bag :goodvibes ).

Maybe we were too eager to buy.................:rolleyes1.........:rotfl2:

Where do they have the model rooms for AKV? ... at SSR or on the Bdwalk?

We will be down there this August and would like to see the rooms for a possible add-on.

The AKV models are at SSR, in the Theater building. (And they're gorgeous! :thumbsup2 )

Some other questions, since we bought a resale contract, we never took the tour:

Do you have to schedule an appointment or can you just go there?

Will they pick you up for the tour? That would be especially convenient since we will not have a car.

How long does the tour take?

TIA

we were in Epcot in May & my dh stopped at the book by the DVC kiosk & started reading. CM came over & asked if we had any questions or if we wanted to go on a tour? They set up a tour about an hour later, drove us from A back area of EPCOT & took us to SSR. We were given 3 fast passes each. Saw the SSR & AKL samples, had a very nice tour & ended up buying when we returned home! (they drove us back to EPCOT after the tour). I believe they will pick you up from any Disney resort as well... Deb

Oh & it took about 2 hours. (we had some yummy ice cream sundaes at the end & enjoyed them leisurely!!) I think I anwered all your questions! If you have more just ask...Deb

We also received 3 or 4 Fast passes and ice cream - plus a framed photo of the visit.

Mule

Well they actually DO push you pretty hard to make a decision at the tour......

"What flavor ice cream do you want?"

Trust me you won't get out of there without making your mind up on THAT one.

We got a pair of 3-ride insta-fastpasses, but more importantly, we were offered the new member price incentive (which we had to take advantage of less than 3 days after returning home). For all I know, however, you could just get this by asking over the phone. :confused3

We got table service vouchers when we went to it in 2005. We declined SSR and eventually purchased VWL through Disney. I am glad that we did. I have never regretted the decision to join DVC.

Since you are already a DVC Member you have a Guide assigned to you. :woohoo: Call your Guide at the DVC Sales Center and schedule your tour. If your Guide is unresponsive, :sad2: get a referral for a new Guide from the members of this board. Call the Sales Center and have a Manager assign you the new Guide. Allow about a hour for the tour. :thumbsup2

I have never spoken to anyone at DVC except MS.

Because we purchased resale, I never had a specific contact person at DVC. I will have to go home and check tonight if there is any info on a particular guide assigned to me. Would it be with my original packet we received once we were in the system?

You can call the sales center and they will check the system and tell you which Guide was assigned to you.

I'm thinking of signing up in the next year or so ... maybe I should take a quick weekend trip down to the resort with the intention of taking the DVC tour first though instead of just signing up over the phone.

I want some ice cream and free swag! ;)

although I guess that'd be expensive swag, and if I signed up on the phone I could take a trip using my DVC points instead! :cool1:

I think they are still offering the $100 gift certificate with DVC tour if you stay in any resort above moderate...we stayed at Wilderness Lodge after our last cruise on Magic, and in our room was the invite. Never saw such an invite when we stayed a few weeks earlier at Caribbean Beach. We actually did the tour in between park hops expecting to just eat some ice cream and walk with the $100...well, we were hooked despite years of thinking the whole DVC thing had to be a big scam. For the first time we had the correct information (instead of hearsay), kids who were now too old to share a bed, and the ability to do it without financing. What did we spend the $100 on? Mickey Crocs for my son and DVC logo merchandise!
