DVC Tour?

I was wondering about the DVC Tours. We are interested in looking into DVC Timeshare while we are at WDW this May. Does anyone have any information on how to get an appointment to talk with someone about DVC while at WDW? (I'm trying to talk my DH into DVC) Thanks!

You can go onto the website www.disney.com and click on Destinations .......
I believe DVC is one of the areas within Destinations. You can request information from the website. There are also DVC kiosks set up in all the parks and Downtown Disney and also at the resort hotels. Or I think you can also go directly to Saratoga Springs to the DVC Preview Center and ask for a tour and presentation.

Thanks DonnaL! I forgot to ask. What is the big difference in buying at SSR versus the other DVC properties? I read somewhere about the year that your DVC ends. Year 2042 versus ?

Lets say that I buy at SSR. I know you can book at other DVC properties 7 months out but does it use up more of your points? What's the advantage of actually buying into the resort that you would really like to stay at the most? I'm really confused.

Oh, does anyone know how long this DVC tour thing lasts? I know our DD is not going to want to spend half a day just talking to people about a timeshare.

mickeyluv, I sent you a pm to tell you what you want to do to set up a tour of DVC. It is very easy to do. Usually the tour isn't really long. Also, SSR resort has an additional 12 years of ownership. Goodluck,

You can call 1-800-800-9100 and set up a time for your trip. They will also send a free video and information packet. You can also schedule onsite- there are DVC kiosks in all resorts ( usually near the check-in area) and in all Theme Parks and at DD. You can also schedule from your room- there will be information proivided at check-in and on the room TV.

DVC will pick you up at your resort for the tour and they have a children's center, so your DD will have plenty to do while you enjoy the tour.

SSR contracts go until January 31, 2054 while all of the others end January 31, 2042. During the tour you will see video of the other resorts and will see the SSR models at the resort. I'd plan on about 90 minutes, but if you don't want to spend that long- just let them know and they can tailor the tour to your needs. If is a fun, informative event with no pressure.

Your Home Resort will determine when you can make a reservation and how much your dues will be each year. At 7 months you can reserve at any resort- based on availability.

SSR's contract ends in 2054, the others in 2042. The dues are less expensive at SSR than most of the other resorts. The difference is location. Some like to be near the MK, others Epcot, others it doesn't matter.

Some resorts do require more points. The resort that uses the fewest points is OKW, followed by SSR, then the others and Boardwalk is seperated between a boardwalk/preferred view and a std view. You can click on the DVC point charts at the top of the page to find out. The advantage of buying into the resort you would like to stay at most is being guaranteed more that you will be able to stay there when you want to. For example food and wine festival time at BW and BC. Owners have a 4 month priority for booking at their home resort. This can be important for DVC busy seasons.

Ours lasted 2 - 2.5 hours at the most. Your daughter can go into the kids club area where they have movies, video games and such. They are supervised and your guide will have a remote type thing where the staff can get ahold of you if they need to. So she won't have to sit around and listen to all the boring stuff

A BIG thank you to you all!! I will tell my DH about all of this and we will see. I would like to attend a DVC tour, but I don't know about him. The last timeshare tour we went on about 5 years ago, he said he would never go on another one. Maybe Disney will change his mind!!

My DH swore he would never do a timeshare tour, however, he's the one who wanted to do the DVC tour since he really wanted to see the model rooms (this is when DVC models were at the Boardwalk). On one particular vacation we were parked out by the afternoon before our trip home and had several hours to kill. We were just wandering around the Boardwalk area. We walked by the entry to DVC offices and he casually suggested we go in and look at the models. I said "Well, that means you'll have to sit through a presentation" and his response was "Well, this is DISNEY......how bad could it be?" Guess what......we made the decision to buy THAT AFTERNOON. I sometimes wonder if we had a guide who pressured us at all....if it would have gone in the other direction. But, because our guide was SO GOOD and so LOW KEY we made a great decision without any pressure on her part.
