DVC Survey regarding perks

Was "pool hopping" listed as a perk in the survey? I haven't seen anyone mention it and was wondering why it wouldn't be one of the perks that they would want member feedback on?

It wasn't mentioned on mine.
That one is sort of an odd ball, as I don't see where it costs DVC anything.

very interestingpopcorn::no survey here (yet);)

i did receive a tube in the mail with a litho from the presentation i tried to view for over 1/2 hour without success, along w/an apology letter re techie failboat:confused3

got survey too and disliked the way the grouped the choices, seemed to be looking for answers to support what they wanted...
rated AP high , and wondered about the free park parking perk(doesn't everyone get that if staying on property? or have AP).
I Also mentioned at the end of survey about how I could hardly wait to hear what "due to member requests" perks we were going to get!!!!!! LOL also mentioned about the BWV parking mess and about how it would just be nice to even get to park there in the close lot.:goodvibes

I too was scratching my head over the free parking perk. After all, if you are staying onsite parking is already free. Is DVC now going to tout free parking as a "perk"?

I also mentioned my concern in the comments section about the parking issue at BWV.

I didn;t recieve the survey but I would love to see the annual pass discount actually raised. Maybe it is just me but I don;t think of high value to the free internet. When I go down to wdw i am trying to get away and relax and I do very little if any of surving the internet or answering emails. Call me old fashion I quess.

True. And, for what it's worth, I think it is more likely that that question is getting at parking transfer payments to Parks from DVC resorts specifically. Even then, I suspect that the hassle of implementing it might be more than it is worth.

But, I can imagine some of the "sharp pencil boys" thinking that charging a *small* amount for onsite guests is just the right balance to toss the "rental car" bathwater without losing the "onsite is good" baby.

The question I have is how would the transportation system handle additional passengers if they discourage rental cars? It's already overcrowded at peak times. Last year when I stayed at Kidani, we rode the bus to MK and on a couple mornings left people on the curb at Jambo, bus was jammed full. Leave MK after Spectro or Wishes, you frequently don't get on the first bus or have to stand jam packed.

It would be worth it to Disney to add a few bus routes if they cut into the guests with rental cars. Heck, they pay for airport transfers already, for the same reason.

So what about the guests that drive in? Even though we use a mix of disney and our own transportation, if we had to pay for the priviledge of parking on site then it is one more diminishing reason to stay on site.

Further, as to where DVC resorts fit in this picture, what if I want to use my resort but visit Universal or other Florida attractions? I can stay pretty much anywhere else in the area but very few charge to park at the resort/hotel. I know Shades of Green has a nominal parking fee, but none of the other places we have stayed have.

It's not just you. The free internet is of zero value to me as well. We don't own a laptop. We don't bring a router with us. We don't set up a live video feed of the view from our room. I don't post anything and rarely send out an email to anyone while away on vacation. I will check messages on my blackberry and surf the web a little on my phone while on vaca but thats about it. You can call me old fashioned too, I guess. And that is fine with me.

Now the question is, how did they pick the customers they surveyed? :rotfl:...

I hope it was a statistical sample so the results can be reliably extended to the membership at large.

But since this is an on line survey there is no practical reason to not have surveyed all members.

I totally agree. I realize based on the post someone else made that they don't have to survey everyone to get an accurate measure, but I see no reason for them not to especially since it was sent by email.

At multiple points in the survey they allowed for free-form comments to be entered to explain why respondents answered in a given manner. There would be human intervention required to collated and analyze those comments.

Assuming the sample was chosen properly, there's no valid reason to put yourself in a position of managing 150,000 responses when 5k - 10k would yield equally valid results.

If they really care about the free form comments, I agree. But they may be throw aways to calm people who do not like being forced to answer within the construct of the instrument.

It was interesting to see in Doc's list "perks" that I would not have thought of as perks.

Hopefully they surveyed a diverse group, different geographic location, different ages, different point totals, etc.

As TJ stated as long as the sample was chosen properly I guess I can see the point about the personal comments.

Sadly lately I am not sure they do things the way they should and as someone stated I think the survey will be used to their advantage regardless.

Considering they are always saying decisions are made on member feedback there is nothing stoping those that did not recieve the survey from sharing thier feedback too.

I just got an email from DVC asking me to participate in an online survey regarding DVC perks. I'm off to complete the survey now!

We ask that you please complete this survey prior to June 13, 2010.

Thank you for your help!

We are DVC member's and haven't got the email yet. I guess it's random? Or maybe we are just NEW:confused3

I never get emails from DVC. They can't seem to get their settings right and they stopped trying to fix whatever is wrong. I would never know if they had something important to say.:headache:

Same here. Every time I complain about not getting emails, I'll get a couple, and then they stop again.

As a DVC member who likes coming down for a few days and not really doing the parks (wife does not like the parks at all), I would like to see discounts on MYW passes.Last time I went down, I bought a six day with waterpark, non expire option... Used one day and still have a ton of time on it... It just works better for us but a 15% discount would have been nicer!
