Well since Disney has gone public with the plans for that Imaginary Building Next to the Contemporary, the CMs must have nothing left to fib to the guests about. Looks like the imaginary cups fit the bill nicely, doesn't it? :rotfl2:

Mary <"permitted"? What are we three years old? LOL!>

That is so true. What building next to Con???? I don't see it??

Bavaria, I was just thinking that English was your 2nd language and I have never once seen you rude or even have a difficult time understanding your posts. Now I know mine came sometimes be hard to follow, but that is because I am often distracted by kids.

I do think TiggerAlli has a point because DB posts can be very hard to follow.

DBorges - according to your logic - what isn't specifically listed in the planner isn't required to be provided by DVC.
SO I suppose we can expect to not get water, electricity, heat or air conditioning in months to come....(Don't want to give DVC any ideas on how to cheapen the experience any further...)

My goodness, MLA, what did you threaten to do if the glasses weren't returned??:lmao: :rotfl:

You not causing trouble. I sometime get my fingers going so fast. That I fail to use any grammar at all.

It is Just me I ramble pointless sometimes .

It is me as well, although I cannot claim perfect English skills, I do try. When things are written in a confusing manner my eyes go all squidgy & my head hurts. :scared:

At any rate, I am glad that you do not feel that I was attacking you! :)

Checked into OKW studio March 2. There were dirty mugs and glasses setting in a washbasket outside of our room, but there were no mugs or glasses in our studio. I called housekeeping to request mugs and glasses and was told that studios didn't get them. I told her, "but the previous guests had them, because their dirty ones are still setting outside of our door". She said "OK, I'll bring you 2 of each". When she arrived, she had more styrofoam cups and told us that we were not permitted to have mugs and glasses. So, after looking at your picture, maybe they have already decided to reverse their policy.

Does this mean that mousekeeping will not bring cups/mugs even upon a special request? So much for keeping guests happy!!

I also agree with several other posters in that rather than implementing and enforcing stricter cleaning standards DVC has taken the "low" road and removed the glasses/mugs.

Has anyone received anything other the the standard reply?

Lets try if we can to have a little common sence. I am refering to the Glassware and Cups.

If you are in the mood to make it more by all means.

As you Say do not cheapen the subject matter

I haven't heard anything other than:

But that's just it DBorges. They were taking the cue from you. What they mean to tell you is that because it did not list ceramic mugs and glasses on the listing does not mean that they never were a part of the "original" amenities. You have seen the pictures the other members have posted, no?

You are entitled to your own opinion. He is, she is, I am. Good for you for sticking to what you believe in, but please don't think that because they're "just papper cups" to you, it does not mean that they're the same for the other members. Studio does not mean cheap. If I were single and wanted to stay deluxe, I would use a studio, why would I go to a 1-bedroom? Studio is not VALUE, 1-BR is not MODERATE and 2-BR and up are not DELUXE. It does not work that way. We are paying for DELUXE accommodations no matter the size of the room and foam cups do not symbolize DELUXE. I, being a new member, find that a bit disheartening to hear something as mundane as ceramic mugs can be seen as a luxury now (it seems) by DVC. Again, it's not the paper cups but what these paper cups stand for. Much like if they removed curtains and changed it with those paper blinds you get from the corner store for $1.99. Or if they changed the sheets to sandpaper-type ones. They're still sheets, but of course, they do not mean DELUXE anymore. Or say, rather than a comfy sofabed, they replace all that with air mattresses. Do you use air mattresses when you are at home? That's basically it - I think that's what others have been trying for you to understand, not that they need you to anyway. Likewise, you don't have to make other people understand why you feel the same way. They're just stating how they feel, you also just need to state how you feel and not say "it's JUST papper cups" because that's like saying how the other feels about the topic is unimportant and childish. Tom feels this way, Jerry feels that way, and DBorges feels another, that's the history of the world.

Cheers!

I'm using your logic - never said it was reasonable logic. You're the one who keeps harping on "what's in the planner" My example was tongue in cheek obviously. (But some timeshares do add a utility fee to your stay so who knows...) You seem to be a "if it doesn't effect me - I don't care" kind of person. And "screw the environment too" if you think extra styrofoam is a good idea. And if DVC is looking around for ways to cut costs - it'll trickle down to something you DO care about in your villa eventually. If this is all a reaction to housekeeping not doing their job - I for one - don't appreciate conveniences of home being removed because housekeeping finds replacing glassware to be too taxing for them. Especially when dues do nothing but rise.

Just sent a message to MS via the "contact us" link on the member website asking them to bring back the mugs and glasses :surfweb:

I happy to see so many Members writing to DVC to express their concerns about not just this, but the slow elimination of a bunch of good stuff.
I will have to find time to fire one off myself... :thumbsup2

i drink a quite few cups a day,and will trash at least 3-4 cups a day.so if i run out do i call mousekeeping and ask for more? would i get them,or would they say your only entitled to 4 till trash and towel?

In addition to the generic environmental concerns, I would think Disney would want to limit disposables as much as possible at AKV.

I wouldn't put it past me to set an empty one down some morning while watching animals from my balcony... :rolleyes1

[QUOTE I really have a problem with a company who professes to be green, then replaces reusable mugs with styrofoam cups. What are they thinking?[/QUOTE]

I know! :scared1: This really bothers me also! Don't we have enough waste already! Can you imagine how much more garbage this will create!?
