DVC studios - fewer amenities

So, let me get this straight.

What happens if I'm staying in a studio and call housekeeping for wine glasses, will they say "You're not allowed?" How can they deny me wine glasses, but bring up glasses for the folks across the hall in the one bedroom ...

Next, they'll deny toasters.

While it's not the end of the world, it's just so cheap!

I also sent a letter of complaint last night. I got the canned response that they received my email. This morning I got the "we are forwarding your concerns" email.

Yup. That's the crutch of it for me.

A great reputation is very easy to lose, and once it's lost, it's very hard to get back... :sad2:

I agree, and this is a potential PR disaster for Disney. The news media loves to expose a hypocrite, and Disney would be a lovely target, as Disney sponsors all kinds of environmental groups.
Stocking styrofoam in a deluxe unit is potential fodder for rival companies.

I will just write...Please forward my concerns....:) Hopefully they will get our messages

Am I the only thinking about borrowing mugs from one of the restuarants for the duration of our stay if housekeeping will not bring one to the room?

Since I've been reading this thread, that's what I've decided also. Mugs and glasses will be coming from the restaurants during my stay. For what we've paid for BCV I personally will not tolerate styrofoam or plastic.
What's next with Disney?

Unwashed and stained comforters? Already have that! Take out the comforters!

Dark coloring in lots of rooms to hide dirty rooms? Have that too!

Disney has some of the dirtiest rooms in the hotel business. We stay in Marriott, Hyatt, Fairfield Inn, Hilton, Hampton Inn many times per year and Disney has always been consistently the dirtiest.

Excellent idea. Since peanuts worked for Jericho, how about we send scads of styrofoam peanuts to Member Services?

NO DON'T! They'll recycle the peanuts into more cups for your coffee! Send ceramic mugs so they'll get the hint.

A reminder that the personal emails for Disney CMs is not allowed to be posted. Feel free to post the more generic Member Services and Member Satisfaction address, though.

Thanks.

AllEars is reporting:

Disney Vacation Club spokesperson Diane Hancock confirmed for AllEars® that the studio villas no longer have glassware or ceramic mugs for use and have now switched to disposables. "Because dishwashing equipment is not available in the studios, we feel this is the best option for our members and guests," said Hancock. And without the glassware, dishwashing soap will no longer be provided for the Studios. This change does not affect the one-, two- and three-bedroom villas.

Since by your own addmission it is not diffrent then you apartment In Germany how can it be deemed a deluxe Room .

OH hum It still will not change my mind as for the inviromental impact

I and will be to bet that has been looked at ..

Are you still making illogical comparisons that are completely incorrect? I guess we should be happy you are no longer insisting that studios never had real coffee mugs and glasses. :lmao: What does her apartment have to do with a deluxe resort? Remember: Compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges. Comparing apples to oranges is ridiculous. :confused3

What I would like to know...is this really cost effective? Is this really saving Disney a lot of money or any at all? How much does a coffee mug and a little juice glass cost? For instance, our next stay will be 11 nights in the same place to start. Think how many disposable products we will use in that amount of time compared to "one" glass and "one" mug" for the entire stay!:confused3 :

Glasses and mugs don't cost a whole lot when buying in bulk, but you do have to account for breakage, theft, and replacements. In addition, the amount of labor required for cleaning and restocking them. It's definitely cheaper to use disposables. Otherwise, even roach motels would use real dishes and not disposables.

Lastly, it is just plain "Cheesy" and it is bad for the environment!:sad2:

I agree 100% :thumbsup2

Reading it on AllEars has made it hit home. I'm so disappointed with my DVC. We spend most of our points with larger family accomodations, but when DH and I stay, we stay in a studio, that's all we really need. A glorified motel room, maybe to some, but one that had the facilities for breakfast, some lunches and the ability to heat up leftovers. Without the dishsoap, how to clean up the little bit we have? Making fruit salad, having a watermelon gets sticky. We don't need or want a 1bedroom. I'm pretty sad right now.

Dave, in my studio apartment in Germany there was/is no dishwasher. The kitchen is the same size as a studio in a DVC villa. Dishwashers are very rare in Germany. The fridge is the same size, as are fridges all over Germany and Europe.

But we certainly are not unsanitary. If there is a kitchen sink and dishsoap, there is no issue with washing up. One does not require a dishwasher to ensure that dishes are washed correctly

THANK YOU! :thumbsup2

I lived in an apartment before I was married that had a fridge about the same size, a microwave toaster oven, kitchen sink, and a hot plate! I still didn't eat off of paper and styrofoam. I had a kitchenette! Those were the days!:rotfl:

I will tell you one thing, I will thing long and hard about leaving a tip for mousekeeping if they refused me mugs (and glasses) that every other level of room in the resort is "allowed" talk about lowering the class. :rolleyes1

I guess I am just in the mood to not let my complaints go. I called the city today to complain about the pot holes in front of my DD's school. Hopefully they will get patched soon. I am not putting up with crap any more. Put a fork in me, I am done. :rolleyes1

Disney will not keep this policy with out hearing from me about it again and again. If I go in May and my friends in AKL get glasses and we don't......... Well I am just not going there right now. It really is a mater of principle how cheap and poor of a job of guest services they are doing.

We stayed on a studio at VWL from 03/01 -03/04 and the first day we were there we had glasses and mugs but housekeeping came in on 3/02 and swapped them out with the disposable cups / paper plates and plastic utensils. However they did leave the dish soap. I was kinda surprised they came into our room at all since we were only there for 4 days.
