DVC Resorts recent refurbishments?

Trying to decide where we would like to stay next year. I'm hoping to rent points from a DVC member and want to book at the 11 month window so we have a better chance of getting what we want.
Now my question is has BCV or BWV's undergone any recent refurbishments? I have to admit we like the Boardwalk area but the Boardwalk Villa rooms don't appeal to me too much. If they are undergoing refurb soon I may consider it.
We also are considering AKV but since it's new I'm not concerned.

If anyone knows any info that would be great!

BWV is due for a refurb but I can't tell you exactly when that will happen.

I posted a similar question yesterday to see if anyone knew when the BWV refurb was scheduled to begin. I thought I read somewhere that they were scheduled to start in May of this year (we already rented and are staying in December) but I'm not 100% positive and of course, things can change.

BWV appears to be headed for a refurb in 2009. However, I think it's worth clarifying that DVC refurbs are much different than at cash resorts. This will not be like recent changes to the Poly or Contemporary where the rooms look totally different when re-opened.

* They will not be making any substantial changes to the design of the rooms.
* They will not be adding flat panel TVs to the rooms.
* They will not be upgrading appliances or installing new countertops.

Old Key West is the oldest resort and it has yet to see any upgrades on this scale. So that's the resort to watch and see if/when DVC invests the money for any sortof major upgrades.

Standard DVC refurbishment work is largely limited to changing out "soft goods" which would be the linens, drapes, throw pillows, carpet. They will paint or wallpaper where needed. There may also be other minor repairs as needed--replacement fixtures added, tile work repaired, etc.

Personally I wouldn't make DVC resort decisions based upon rumored rehab work. The work will be completed over a series of months...if not years...due to the high occupancy of the timeshare resorts. You have no way of knowing if you will get a newly-refurbished room or one that hasn't been touched yet. And even if you get a newly-refurbished room, there's always the chance that it will have been abused by guests since its refurbishment.

IMO, use more relevant criteria for choosing your resort. And if you should discover any problems upon arrival, contact maintenance or housekeeping and they will certainly respond.

Thanks! I was wondering how they refurb DVC resorts. Well I think that leaves BWV out I'm just not crazy about the room decor. I am really leaning towards AKL. I think they did such a nice job on these rooms. We've stayed at AKL and loved the theming. Now to convince the family. They think they need to be in the boardwalk area.
