DVC referal promotion

I received in the mail yesterday a set of "referal cards" which give the DVC member an "incentive" if their friends/family buy into DVC (obviously said friends have to present these cards) . Anyone else received these lately? I was interested to see Disney use this type of material, not sure what to make of it. Either sales are a little slower than they were hoping for (which doesn't seem to be the case), or Disney has decided to adopt slightly more aggressive marketing tactics. I'd be interested to know if they send these to the UK members as well as those based in the USA. With the amount of people I've talked into visiting the tours who have eventually bought into DVC I'd have made quite a few $$ if this had been running over the years LOL.

In the past I've received something which sounds similiar, but haven't had anything very recently - maybe they're still on thier way overseas

As I read them, there was still no tangible incentive available to UK residents, just that warm glow from letting someone else spend their hard-earned cash!

If things are still the same, then Hilary's right, we get no rewards for intorducing people to DVC.
I have referred 2 people who bought into DVC and all I get was a nice letter telling me I would not receive anything as UK law does not allow it.
Whether this is true or just a DVC smokescreen I don't know.

send em all my way then ROFLMAO , I know I didn't get anything in the past for all the business I've sent their way, I was hoping it would stand me in good sted when I tried to get a job at WDW but that seems to have been a blank as well LOL.

We referred friends a few years ago and we were told that we could not recieve rewards because of the uk law.

Well we went on a time share presentation by Marriott near DLP and the person doing the presentation mentioned the rewards we could get if as owners we referred someone. I said that the UK did not allow this. She said that was not true and of course we could recieve rewards. I mentioned DVC and she said that it was due to tax issues in America that causes the UK to not get the rewards. She said that Marriott in America allow the rewards for any country outside the US.

So I started phoning and demanding an explanation. I initially got the UK won't allow it line. Eventually they put me in touch with the person that arranges all the incentives,rewards etc. He phoned up and explained that indeed it was DVC that could not handle the different tax issues associated with each country. If you get a reward that is worth something then they have to pay the tax involved to the British goverment. He said that DVC consider it to difficult to set up a system. He said that he would like to meet us when we next come over, which we did and a really nice conversation. He said that he is trying to change the system to allow all countries to have rewards. Also he said that he wanted better perks for members and was hoping for a discounted pass system.

Well the discounted pass system came, so maybe someday we will have the rewards as well.

That's interesting DisneyBB, I also had thought /assumed it was due to a UK law.
