if you are a DVC member can you use you points to stay at the Poly or GF? i just watched the DVC member video and they showed those videos on a part of it......

You can, but it takes a lot more points to stay at a non-DVC Disney resort, than a one or two bedroom DVC villa. A one bedroom might be around 20 points, and a resort room might be around 35 points.

Is there a time frame for booking at the non DVC hotels? IE home resort 11 months - other resorts 7 months - where would AKL or Poly fit in?

no you can book the WDW resorts at 11 months just like your home resort.

it is only the other DVC resorts (beside your home resort) that you can't book at 11 months.

We had a Poly trip booked for Dec (value season) when we decided to do DVC. Since we were able to get the '05 UY pts banked into '06, we just rebooked using points, with plenty of points left over to do a Sun-Thurs trip next June.

To give you an idea of the point differential, a Sat-Tues trip is 173 pts for Poly, while it would be 101 for SSR.
