DVC Points at the Wilderness Lodge (not the villas)

I will be staying at the Villas at the Wilderness Lodge in May. I called yesterday to try and extend our trip by another night and reservations for the villas are full. Does anyone know off the top of their head if I can use my points to book a room at the Wilderness Lodge Resort (not the villas)? I briefly checked my membership book and did not see the Wilderness Lodge Resort listed as an option. Thanks!

No. (It was possible before VWL opened.) Once a resort adds a DVC section, we can no longer use our points to stay at the hotel part. You can't stay at Wilderness Lodge or BWI on points. Staying at the Beach Club is also coming to an end.....we will still be able to use Yacht Club.

Just a thought.......you can use your points to get a cabin at Fort Wilderness Campground. This was one of the few resorts that the point requirement went DOWN when DVC and Disney revised the point requirement for the Disney collection. Further, the Cabins are 'home away from home' accomodations similar to DVC. We have used the cabin many times prior to joining DVC, and last March we used our DVC points to get a cabin.

Again, just a thought.

For some additional info, as was noted above, the Beach Club will stop allowing "hotel" point reservations as of Sept. 1. The quote below is from the DVC member website:

Disney's Beach Club Villas - Important Booking Information
Disney's Beach Club Villas is projected to open on August 1, 2002, but Members may begin making Vacation Point reservations on March 6, 2002. Disney's Yacht and Beach Club Resorts are available through The Disney Collection until August 31, 2002. After September 1, 2002, only Disney's Yacht Club Resort will be available to Members through The Disney Collection.
