We are heading back to wdw on Thursday, staying at the wilderness lodge villas.

It's been 4 yrs since our last visit back 'home'

This time we are in a budget and I've just remembered about the perks - discount off food & shopping

What perks have you used ? Will I have to carry my dvc membership card with me or will my magic band identify me as a dvc member?

Thank you

When we went in December we carried our Membership cards, but at that time we just had the DVC sliders.
I saw a pic somewhere on Disboards of a Magic Band with DVC member on it. Guess those are the new DVC MB's?:confused3
I would imagine that the Membership Card will still be asked in addition to license to verify ID to prevent non members from using it. :goodvibes

Be sure to ask - especially at resort gift shops when getting snacks or, basically, anywhere - about your discount. One year I was able to get both the DVC discount and the volume discount at the candy places (I go to WDW for the fudge, I think!) though the next year the girl behind the counter said it was one or the other. Believe me, I'll be asking again this year. :-)

Sometimes if the CM sees the DVC Member slider on your MB they'll remind you about a discount (we now get discounts inside the parks, BTW), but in any case you have to show your DVC membership card and your ID to get the discount.

Hi sorry it's been 4 yrs since our last visit- what is a dvc slider ? Where do I get it thanks?

It's a piece of rubber that says 'DVC Member' on it and you slide your MagicBand through it. The DVC MagicSliders are included in the MagicBand package for DVC Reservations.

I don't think that by itself the slider does anything to get you a discount. It just reminds you to ask about DVC discounts.

The sliders shouldn't get you a discount. Every one in your party gets them whether a member or not.
I have a huge pile. We were 7 people with only 2 members.....split stay, so that trip alone I got 14 of them.

At DTD this past weekend, EoS, ordered the food, went to pay, had forgotten about discount, CM saw my MB DVC slider and gave me the discount without asking for my ID/membership card. All she did was point out to me that she gave me the discount cause of "seeing" my slider.

We got a Tables in Wonderland membership which in previous trips was only available to Florida residents and now DVC members.
We travel in big groups ( bank and borrow points for large trips every two years ). So at 19 people, we got 2 cards ( 1 member, 1 spouse card ) which covers up to 20 people ( 10 each ). I'll tell ya, 20% off all food/drink racks up the savings fast.

It started out as FL Residents Only, then they opened it up to Annual Passholders, and then finally DVC Members.

I have happily used the DVC discount at the golf courses. Since they turned over course operations to Arnold Palmer Golf Management a couple years ago, they changed the discount for members from a "membership" to a straight discount. I don't know the percentage but I know that when I was there during the summer rates, any time of the day, even first thing in the morning the regular resort guest rate of $89 was only $55. I know that this is only for members who enjoy golf but it is still a great perk and one of the more bang for your buck discounts that members can take advantage of.

That's why I wish I'd remembered to wear my DVC member slider on my last trip. There were a few discounts that I totally missed because I forgot to ask, and I had nothing on to maybe remind CMs to ask. The one DVC discount I'm faithful about remembering is at Sanaa.
