Our boys were 9 & 10 when we bought 3 years ago. We didn't discover DVC until shortly after we made our first visit to WDW in April 2000. Four months later we were members!

We bought in May of 2000 - I was one of those people with screwed up priorities...bought DVC first, then bought our first house then had our baby (who is now almost 2). We financed for ten years so well have it paid off by the time I'm 37 (2010). So as long as all goes well with finances it will be paid off way before my son (or any future babies) get to college. :)

I needed to put a dot in more than one category! Our boys were 7, 6, 3, and 3 months when we bought in 1998. Now, they are 12, 11, 8, 5 and 2. Yep, we added another baby before we did our BCV add-on in 2002.
I still don't know if they actually love it as much as I do, but with DVC, we've done a cruise (and planning another), 3 extended family vacations to WDW, 2 "just us" long weekends with DH, and I'm planning the second trip with just 2 boys and me (oldest 2 last Dec, next 2 in 4 weeks!).
It's great for our family, and just keeps getting better. I do wish, as others have said, that we had purchased when BWV first opened.

My kids have literally grown up going to WDW and staying in resorts all over property but BWV did not open until they were teens so that is when I bought! I must say though, I bought DVC much more for me than for my kids. They love WDW but I am the real Disney maniac in our family. My kids still enjoy going to WDW and we have a great time when we are there together but for every one trip they make, I go 3-4 times more. DD averages a trip a year, DS averages a trip every 18 or so months and I am there every 3-4 months and I love it! Truely one of the best decisions I have ever made!

Our kids were 5 and 8 when we bought our first contract in 1993. Couldn't really have bought TOO much sooner than we did!

I don't see where your priorities are screwed up?

Looks about right to me! :p

We just bought into SSR last week. My DDs are 12 and 16. I tried but could not talk my husband into buying after our tour 6 years ago. I guess he has softened with age. Had we bought then with us going about once a year, we would have paid off our investment. Oh well, better late than never!

We bought when DD was 4 months old. She has been twice since then. We used up 2003 points and are banking the remaining 2004 points so when we go in 2005 we should (hopefully) have our second DD or DS.:D

I don't know if you would call us Late Bloomers. But we bought in 97 and our daughters were 12 and 14. It was our second trip to WDW. We had thought about buying the year before on our first trip, but the point requirement was 210 that year and we weren't sure that we could afford it. Now we have 400 points! I guess we should have taken the plunge in 96.

We are in 2 catagories...

DD was 4, DS was 2 and we dropped off our signed fedex package on the way to the hospital. (2nd DD was born later that day.)

DW & I bought into DVC expecting that it would be used by our family as it grew. We just took 1-year-old DS to WDW for his first birthday, and have made plans for another visit for his second in addition to the Disney Cruise. (He's not going to be spoiled on anything, is he?)

We were told by a few "financial planners" that buying into DVC was a poor investment, but I say we're having alot more fun than watching our money go down the tubes in the stock market!

Children were 30, 27 and 11. They think I'm the child when it comes to DVC. 39 more years of childhood and counting and planning and planning etc.

I think this poll demonstrates the remarkable marketability of the DVC concept!

After 145 votes, the results are fairly evenly spread among the various categories. So obviously, WDW and DVC has something for just about everybody regardless of the stage of life they're in.

This is a marketer's dream!! :)

None of the above. We didn't have kids when we bought DVC. We now have an 11 month DD.

I am finding this most interesting. My DH thought I was nuts for wanting to buy into DVC when our children are 12 and 16. He thought they were too old. (Of course, I bought in for me, not the kids anyway!) Its great to see that the majority of purchasers (at this time) are people with older children!
