DVC Online Tour---$40 gift card?

Didn't even have to do the tour! The tour guide asked if I was interested in DVC, and I explained that I was not b/c we usually go only every 2 years and stay in a value resort. He said OK, and that my gift card would be there in about 30 days. That was IT! Most painless timeshare "presentation" I've ever been through. --Katie

Rats wish I had known that! I received the packet today and we're not planning to sign up. We tend to travel on the cheap too. But the nice CM put three coloring books in the package for my kids. How cool was that :lovestruc.

DH did the tour on Tuesday night and we received the brochures today.

Just curious if anyone else was told that regular hotel rates were going up 16% next year? Or was that just part of the sales pitch?

I got my Fedex envelope with my gift card today! WooHoo! It's going into the 'hopefully next year trip' fund!

Can those who received their $40 gift cards share how long it took to receive via Fed Ex? I called back in November- at the same time my sister called. She received her gift card the first
week of Dec. when I called to follow up they could see I called but apparently my info was not processed by the sales person - which made sense as I never received the marketing materials
either. It has been over two weeks since my follow up call and I am trying to determine if I need to call back a third time :(

My person didn't give a specific number but kept saying hotel rates are going up every year!

Thanks for the tip!! Just called and my GC should arrive in about 30 days just in time for the my end of the month trip to WDW!! WOOT WOOT!! That is a free meal!!

Got a fed-ex message that my GC is arriving today!! I would have never called if it weren't for the DIS. I was afraid of a high-pressure sales pitch and it was not at all! Excited to have $40 more for our trip next month!!

For those of you getting your GC's now, how long ago did you do the phone tour?

I took my phone tour last week & it came today - but I wasn't here, bummer! The paper says they will do 2 more attempts then I have to go pick it up.

Mine arrived today about 10 minutes after I got home !! Had to sign for it. Odd thing ... I did the phone tour thing, using my credit card ... the info packet came addressed to me BUT the fedex'd $40 gift card came addressed to my DH!?! THe fedex driver questioned ME when I went to sign, asking if DH was home ? and IF I had the same last name as on the package?? :confused3 wierd all around!

I did the tour on Dec. 8th, and got my card today (Dec. 23rd), so it took about 2 weeks, when I talked to them I believe they told me it would take about 3 weeks, so I got it sooner than I expected.

Yup! Just did it. Very, very low pressure presentation. In fact, they didn't even try to close me for a sale. Just emailed me the presentation and that was it! :cool1:

Did my tour around the 14th and received card today -- tried to deliver yesterday but we weren't home.

If anyone in still interested in this, I just called and it was easy as pie. I'm actually looking forward to getting this information too. :goodvibes

I called today as well. The gentleman I spoke with was very friendly and informative. No pressure at all. Of course there was a "if you do it within 14 days, it will be cheaper" pitch but heck, they are trying to sell :)

Very easy!

I took the tour 12/9, got the card 12/24 (early Christmas gift!)

I didn't receive the postcard until after I called and did the tour, but it wasn't a problem. I got a little nervous since after I mentioned the gift card in the beginning and the guy took the first digits of my Visa, the GC was never mentioned again... But seeing as I got it, obviously it wasn't a problem!

I did find my guide a little pushy and rude though. I told her right up front that I'm a college student living off loans, so although I'd love to join, there was no way that would happen anytime in the near future. She replied, "Well, you must be making some good money somehow, they don't give out those Visas to just anyone!" I couldn't believe she said that! I have a card, but it's linked to my mother's account (who didn't want to do the tour). I told her that but she just kept telling me it was such a good investment maybe I can take out some extra money from my student loans and put it towards a DVC down payment, especially since they have some really good financing offers.

I'm sorry, but no.

Anyway, after the first few uncomfortable minutes, it ended up being a short (10 minutes) phone call. She emailed me the brochures and ten days later did a follow up call (went to voicemail -- again pushing that I should do it now but whatever) and then my card came! Perfect for my trip next week!!

I did the tour today-quick and easy, and very friendly CM. He said the gc would arrive via fedex in 45 days.
