DVC Online Tour---$40 gift card?

I took the tour 12/9, got the card 12/24 (early Christmas gift!)

I didn't receive the postcard until after I called and did the tour, but it wasn't a problem. I got a little nervous since after I mentioned the gift card in the beginning and the guy took the first digits of my Visa, the GC was never mentioned again... But seeing as I got it, obviously it wasn't a problem!

I did find my guide a little pushy and rude though. I told her right up front that I'm a college student living off loans, so although I'd love to join, there was no way that would happen anytime in the near future. She replied, "Well, you must be making some good money somehow, they don't give out those Visas to just anyone!" I couldn't believe she said that! I have a card, but it's linked to my mother's account (who didn't want to do the tour). I told her that but she just kept telling me it was such a good investment maybe I can take out some extra money from my student loans and put it towards a DVC down payment, especially since they have some really good financing offers.

I'm sorry, but no.

Anyway, after the first few uncomfortable minutes, it ended up being a short (10 minutes) phone call. She emailed me the brochures and ten days later did a follow up call (went to voicemail -- again pushing that I should do it now but whatever) and then my card came! Perfect for my trip next week!!

I did the call today and must have had the same cm. She was definitely pushing for a sale. I told her that due to the current economic situation, my husband working construction, and his pay check amount being very unreliable, we were just not able to take on any additional debt at this time. She still kept pushing, saying we could take the money we put aside for any vacation this year towards a 100 pt buy in. I told her I didn't think my kids would appreciate that, most of them are to young to understand, and unless Dh's paycheck suddenly becomes more reliable there isn't going to be a vacation this year. I can't remember her name, but she said DVC has been around for 20 years and she's been selling for 16 years, and that should tell me something. What I'm not sure lol. Anyway, after she did her best and made sure I'd received an email she sent, I asked about the gift card. She said that had nothing to do with her, it had to do with the guy who originally answered the phone and transferred the call to me. If I'd of known that I'd of cut her off way sooner then I did! Oh well, hopefully the card will be here in a few weeks.

I just called too. Thanks to you all for the heads up. $40 more for our trip in May. I would LOVE to buy DVC! It's not in the cards right now unless we win the lottery.

My turn around time to get the gift card was about 10 days too :woohoo: I already used it toward a new Disney Dooney bag

Just completed the tour with Linda--she was very nice! I was on the phone w/ her for 38 min....Can't wait for the GC to arrive! :thumbsup2

I read this thread this morning and thought why don't I ever get anything like this from my Visa card. My mom gets lots of promotions. Well, this afternoon I got the information in the mail. :yay: I called and spoke to someone who was very nice and he put me through to someone else who would give me the tour. I can't tell you how nice he was; he answered all my questions and said there was no pressure to just think about what we had talked about. He's sending me information and the gift card!!!

I just did this ~ 50 minutes later...hopefully I'll get the gift card! The first girl I spoke with mentioned it but it didn't come up again. I am pretty talkative, and so was the rep I spoke with, so I'm sure that's why it took so long! Still worth it for the $40 for our April trip!!

I was disappointed, they sent the offer to DH and I but we can;t do it because we are dvc members.

I got this postcard in the mail today too! Just did it this afternoon. So excited for the gift card! My sister is a Disney Visa cardholder too. So she did it as well, and I am thinking she is giving me her gift card! Woo Hoo!!

So I called and talked to 2 people-one who took my info to send the GC and the sales rep who led me through the online tour briefly. Then he emailed me a video tour. Does anyone know if I have to take that video tour and call him back to receive the gift card?

I just got this offer in the mail today. I think I am going to call tomorrow but we are not interested in DVC right now, does that matter? Are the reps pushy? Also, DH also has a Disney Visa (a different account than mine). Can he call too or is it only one GC per household?

TIA!

I was upfront when I made the call and explained that we were in no position to buy into DVC at the time, and there was no problem or pressure. Couldn't have been a more pleasant experience.
And I'm told it's only one GC per household.
HTH.
I hope you call and get your GC. It was the easiest $40 I ever made!

I did it too with Todd and he could not have been nicer. We were on the phone for almost an hour because I was really interested in all of the info. It made me really want to do it, but unfortunately I just can't swing it right now. I am happy to add the $40 GC to my savings for our summer trip though. It was a great offer!

Ok, we have a Disney Visa in my husbands name, can I call and use his card or do they have to speak with him. Or if I am a authorized user, would that work.

My DVC info packet arrived via Fedex today, but no gc:confused3
