DVC Online Tour---$40 gift card?

I called the number, took the 5 minute tour, and they are now sending my gift card. Very fast and easy with no pressure at all. The funny thing is, about 2hrs after I called, I actually got the postcard in the mail and it was in DH's name. They never even questioned me when I called. Just had me verify I had the Disney Visa.

I just called and they said I could only do it if I had received the postcard. She didn't sound too amused I even called to ask but did tell me to have a magical day :rotfl: Maybe I'll try again later.

I received the mailer on December 2, 2011. Called that same day, took about 10 mins. and I spoke to a very nice guy. Received my gift card yesterday, December 12. :woohoo: This will be very useful for my upcoming trip, in less than 2 weeks.

I rec'd the postcard in the mail yesterday & called this AM -- I had to leave a msg so I'm hoping someone will call me back. I did this a few years ago when they offered the $25 GC :)

I just did the 15-minute talk with Michael who was very nice! I got so into hearing about DVC that I never confirmed anything about the GC - did anyone else not have any mention of it? When I called in I did tell them that's what I was calling about, and they verified the 1st 6 digits of my VISA card, then transferred me to Michael. Hopefully I'll still get the GC!

I was on the phone with Lisa for 45 minutes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I wish 14 vacations ago we would have done it. She did say at the end the gift card would come via Fed Ex in 30 days or so.

Exact same thing just happened to me. Maybe they caught on.

Lo and behold, it was sitting in my mailbox when I got home. Kind of annoying that if she had just checked for my name in the system I could have done it earlier like I had wanted. No big deal- it was free money. The person I talked to tonight was much friendlier. Actually, both people. One man answered the call and then transferred me to a specialist. Nobody asked me for my 6 digit account code, but they did ask for my name and address right away to verify. It was informative and I got to talk WDW for 15 minutes with someone who seemed excited to tell me about it. I was sitting there thinking, I'm getting paid for this??? I crave conversations like these! :rotfl2: No pressure at all to buy.

...our postcard came in DHs name so I could not do the 'tour' and these type things are NOT his cup of tea.

Isn't it funny how common this is ... where one person in the couple is so Budget conscious and willing to do anything to save even a little money ... and the other person in the couple would rather stay out of it.

Interesting. I called yesterday afternoon and had no problem and I have never received the postcard. The first lady I spoke with took some info from me and then asked me the first 6 numbers of the Disney credit card. She said it was to cut down on people doing it and that she had the numbers in front of her, so she was able to look me up, she even told me the first number. I then talked to a very nice guy who was not pushy, he just gave a few examples and asked a few questions. He said that he would be sending more info via fedex this week and that my gift card should come in 3-4 weeks, well in advance of my vacation (but just passed my payment due date). Let's hope.

Thanks for the heads up! Easiest presentation ever! Of course, now I'm intrigued by DVC which kind of negates the free gift card... but I guess that's the intent.

Something tells me you should be able to use a $40 gift card once you get to Disney World. So I wouldn't be too upset about missing your payment due date. If the Gift Card is burning a hole in the your pocket there is always pre-paying for the PhotoPass CD for $99.95.

Renting DVC vacations is a much more prudent financial decision than buying the DVC timeshare. Timeshares are one of the biggest financial mistakes a person can make according to most financial planners like Dave Ramsey and Clark Howard.

However, renting comes with most of the perks of owning with almost none of the risks and none of the obligation. There are always certified DVC owners trying to rent out points over on the Rent/Trade Board, and depending on how much in advance you decide on travel dates, you can usually get exactly what you want at a great price (I stayed at the Boardwalk Villas in January 2011 for $108 per night ... 86 points, $860 total for 8 nights).

Just got our postcard yesterday and DH called last night. My sales rep is a pretty hard sell - I have dealt with her once before 2 years ago and that is who DH had to speak to this time. He did fine - and hopefully we'll get the gift card soon. Thanks.

I called today and spoke to someone. The call lasted about 13 minutes They said the giftcard should come in about 45 days or about 1 week after the packet of info. Thanks DIS!

Got the postcard today. They asked several times during the call if I had gotten a card or not. Call was short and pleasant. Mentioned gift card at beginning at call but then didn't mention it again so I hope I'm getting one.
