DVC Mike Live from Kidani Village (Mar 6-14, 2010)

Apparently, DVC is leaving flyers in rooms saying "you're invited to check out the view from the top".

They have this every day in the Top of the World Lounge. They show you a model room as well, and even a GV.

OK, me dumb, flyers in other resorts or flyers only at BLT? :surfweb:
I would love to check it out and our trip coming up will be quite casual so would definately be interested in a side trip (we're staying at SSR).

Thanks - hope you have a great day today! :cool2:

And for checking it out they are giving out fast passes?

I stayed at BLT one night in December after our cruise so I've been to the TOTWL and it is very nice. But I'd like to see a GV if the visit doesn't take hours.

I woke up Thursday morning to see it very overcast, with rain forecast for later in the day. In fact, there were a few sprinkles before I left the room.

So, I left my camera behind, not wanting to get my DSLR wet. Sorry, no pictures will be posted today!

I spent the morning at the Magic Kingdom, and had a blast. I came back to the room where I ate, and then I went back to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It really started raining around 2:30 pm and just got worse as the day went on. I decided to spend much of the afternoon inside, going to two shows I’ve never seen before: Beauty and the Beast and The American Idol Experience. Not only was it dry inside, but both shows were pretty good.

Since I had an umbrella, I left the park mostly dry, except my tennis shoes were soaked. I hope they dry out before tomorrow morning.

Most of the really bad weather (hail, tornadoes and the really heavy rain) was a bit north of WDW.

Tomorrow, more rain is expected. I’m planning on going to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, as I can still hit the safari, as well as two more shows – Festival of the Lion King and Finding Nemo – The Musical.

The weather should get better by Saturday, my last day here before I drive back home on Sunday morning.

Hi Mike, wow I am late to this report! Good to see you & thanks for the photos.:earsboy:

Mike -

Glad you still had a great day despite the weather. Hopefully you'll get to enjoy more sunshine before your vacation is over. And if those shoes don't dry out - you can always put them in the dryer on a low setting. They'll make quite a racket, but at least you'll get them dry! :thumbsup2

Wait...you're driving back home already on Saturday?!! Sounds like you are having a good time despite the rainy days tho.

I have two more days at WDW - Friday and Saturday - and then I hit the rode on Sunday.

The company I work for has this unreasonable expectation that I be at work on Monday. :confused3

Sorry I am not posting this until this morning but if you stuff your tennis shoes with newspaper it will absorb the water and they will be pretty dry by morning. Just a handy tip I've learned on the boards!:thumbsup2

Enjoy your last couple of days!

Hi Mike, your pictures are nothing short of outstanding. I have a quick camera question. I considered buying the D5000 but went with the new Canon 12.1 MP for our soon-to-be Flower Festival trip. Just judging by cost, yours must be the superior camera, but will I be giving up a lot of picture quality especially if I stick with automatic settings?

Sorry to hear about the inclement weather.. glad you are still choosing to have fun!

Wait, does your wife have a mole on her right, no, make that her left... ah, nevermind.

I'm off to a park this morning. I'm not sure which one. Maybe I'll play bus lotto and take the first bus that shows up.

:goodvibes

I think bus lotto is the perfect solution to bus service problems. never a long wait!

Mike, I am willing to fill in whenever your wife cant or doesnt want to make the trip.

Willing to help you with those dining ressies for 2 you made

I will leave the kids home with the hubby.

I just dont want to see a fellow DVC member suffer alone at WDW.

In photography, there are a dozen or more possible combinations of shutter speed, aperture and ISO that will all produce "acceptable" exposures. When you leave you camera on full automatic, you're letting it pick one of those settings - but the camera doesn't know if you're trying to shoot a portrait of somone or a landscape setting, and won't choose the "best" exposure for what you're trying to create.

Well, another rainy day here at Walt Disney World… so no pictures today, since I’m not getting my DSLR camera wet.

I drove over to Disney’s Animal Kingdom this morning, and drove through the gates right at 9am. I was surprised to find maybe 20 cars in the lot – where is everyone? Are they afraid of the rain?

I got to the front gates and there were only a few people there. I went over to Kilimanjaro Safaris, where I just walked right on.

I’ve never done the safari in the rain before. Boy, are all the animals up and active! I saw rhinos sparring and giraffes running and elephants, oh my! If you’ve never done the safari during a good rain storm, give it a try.

Most of the rides were all walk-ons with no wait – only Expedition Everest had a 5-min wait.

I finally did The Festival of The Lion King, which was pretty good.

I arrived back in my room, my sneakers once again soaked wet. It was, however, very much fun!

The rain should be gone by tomorrow. If it’s clear blue skies, I’m going to the MK. If it’s overcast, I’m headed over to BLT to check out the tour.

Hey, Mike. The weather's beautiful here where I work. Wanna trade places? I didn't think so....lol

Missing the pictures, but I'm still enjoying your report. Thanks again

Remember, I'm laying down the photo challenge Mike. Get a cool photo of the exterior of the Hall Of Presidents. Let's see what you come up with.

I went over to the Magic Kingdom tonight.

I finally got to try taking some "dark ride" pictures. These are from Pirates of the Caribbean. Not bad, but I think I can do better next time.

Your picture just exposed how bad my daughter and I have the disney "bug". When we saw this picture we both said at the same time "We Wants the Redhead !" I'm afraid we are incurable ...

You need to go and just buy one of those cheap Olympus waterproof cameras. Even bad pics are better than no pics... Ya can't leave us hanging like this!
