Dvc membership card…showing no discount error

Just thought I would report my experience- was there this week and we show “ND, annual” even though we are grandfathered pre 2016 resale and we also have no annual pass. Everywhere I used the discount without any issues and they generally didn’t ask to see anything. I used it several times , many times the cast member saw my DVC slider and gave me the discount without my even asking. All others gave the discount when I said I was DVC with no request to see any id- except 1 time- a girl asked to see the wallet card and I told her about the issue which she had no idea of and gave me the discount without further questions. So no issues this week. One thing I will say was that I was walking behind a group of young cast members that happened to be chatting loudly about the “DVC people that ask for a discount but the card says ND and how stupid they are”.. then one guy said how at a meeting he was told that they aren’t allowed to argue with DVC people any more and just give them the discounts. Then a girl said “why not?! I love telling them no and seeing how mad they get”. I just shook my head ….

Which just supports how inconsistent it is because I have been twice since the new system and have been asked to show something every time.

We purchased a direct contract at RIV a few days ago (technically our first membership) and both my wife and I have ND on our digital cards. Was hoping since we were new and it was direct we could avoid this issue. Possible that our contract is just too new and the fact it hasn't closed yet might play a factor. Chatted with IT and got the same response everybody else gets. Asked when we were traveling and I said not soon and was told to try again before we travel. My expectations weren't high honestly but it's kind of like driving a brand new car off the lot and having the wipers not work and being told don't worry it isn't raining today lol.

Based on these responses to this issue I think DVC is punting this one. I do not have faith they will get it fixed anytime soon. They do not inspire me based on their past performances..ºoº

Yea it definitely seemed to me that I was getting a shoulder shrug to the issue.

Wouldn't it be much simpler to just re-issue DVC members a brand new plastic DVC identification card? I can't get mine to load into Apple wallet and my DH doesn't have an email account per his choice. I'll gladly pay the extra cost (25 cents plus shipping) out of my $2300 DVC dues.
This whole thing is ridiculous.

It wasn’t a cost of card issue, it was people who had sold their contracts holding on to their plastic card and continuing to use it to receive food and merch discounts.

Agree that's the reason, but...it should be extremely easy to distribute something similar to KTTW cards to DVC members yearly. A card that can be simply scanned/tapped/swiped to determine if you're eligible for DVC perks...and which perks you're eligible for.

So we finished all the paperwork, including the online notary, yesterday and I checked today and we flipped from ND to Y! I suspected this might be part of the issue for us but was happy to see it is resolved. Would have been helpful if MS could have explained to me that this was most likely the issue instead of giviing me a generic answer but fixed is fixed. Good luck to everybody else.

The problem is likely just too many different divisions, and IT isn't known for attention to details, it seems. I doubt DVC has any access to the actual programing, so they can't just go in and fix it. I honestly think the old way, of having a picture of your current DVC Card, and some ID, and manually doing the discount worked better...but they should at least have had the new system active for a while to work all the kinks out before doing away with that.

And, as I have said, if it was non qualified owners getting the discount, get rid of the white card and only have the digital blue one.

This way, nothing for them to show. But, I agree that if this is the way to go…I do like it…it should have been correct and as soon as it wasn’t, pause it.

I am not so sure about that entirely. Having worked in IT for 40 years we would always consult with the department we were making changes for"SIT" Systems Integration Testing. We would have meetings to let them know how things were progressing and a final "SAT" Systems Acceptance Testing meeting to go over it all prior to it going live. This was a DVC change and they I am sure would/should have been intimately involved. That is how it should have been done but it does not appear DVC and their IT department were doing a very good job of communicating back and forth. This is plain and simple a major screw up on their part and I think they did not even consider this scenario. If they did and it simply is not working correctly then a fix should have been in by now. The fact that we are in 2.5 months and still not fixed tells me they dropped the ball on this one..ºoº

As near as I can tell from the entirety of my Disney experiences with IT issues, they keep the IT team locked in a vault with no outside contact permitted. They certainly don't let the IT team communicate with the stakeholders for the software they are developing, let alone end users! I really think they keep them absolutely air-gapped. It's the only way to explain how bad it is in so very many many ways without ever getting fixed. IT isn't being told!

I have been getting ND since this whole issue started.

Today, as I do every day, I looked and I had the "Y".
DVC Y Annual

I purchased resale in 2009 and did not put in a ticket to have it looked at. Good luck, maybe they are starting to change over? I don't know how mine changed overnight.

YEAH!!!!!! You win for being the first resale owner to post of the change! Maybe, just maybe, it will be quick for all owners stuck with the wrong designation!!!!

I set my pass up in July. I never used it and honestly forgot what it was for until I saw this lol. I just checked and mine says “DVC Y” I guess that means I’m good to go?

I’m a 2009 resale owner but also 160 direct in 2010, so I guess I don’t really count as resale owner, right?
