We attended the Member's Update this morning at OKW. It provided the usual good information about the DVC program and offered suggestions about using the II exchange program (many exchanges are done for less than 180 points for a week's stay.)

The BCV has far exceeded sales estimates. As we already know here, the $5 incentive is now gone- but has been replaced with a $5 MB program. Cost will increase to $80 per point on June 2...and they are now projecting the resort to be 50% sold by opening day, July 1. With the current sales pace, they expect a sell out by the end of the year!! He indicated that BCV sales thus far have been driven by add-on purchases by existing members.

The guide suggested that the June 2 price increase won't be the last increase for the BCV.

There are still some use years available at VWL- call for details.

DVC/MS is the largest booking agent for the DCL. DVC member's point reservations would have filled 8.5 cruises last year.

I had the pleasure of meeting iluvdisney and her husband this morning at the meeting. They reported that they had an up-close-and-personal encounter with a bobcat outside building 11 this morning. The animal was just as frightened as they were and no one was hurt. There were some OKW CM's also investigating the large cat- who apparently lives nearby.

Off to Epcot!...

Now, I love the wildlife at OKW but I think I can do without that one!:earseek: :earseek: Plus, he's likely to wipe out my bunny friends.

Just wondering-did he say which use years are already sold out at VWL and which ones are still available? And is it true that you can't add on in a different use year?

The availability is in a state of flux and you'll need to contact your guide to see what's still available. Use years need to be the same as your original contract.

Thanks Doc informative as always. If you scratch the kitty behind the ears it purrs(lol).

You had to write about the bobcat so close to my going home?! Thanks!

Thanks for the update, Doc. Very interesting (especially the bobcat!)

Thanks for the info Doc. Hope your enjoying yourself at "home"!

Thanks for taking time out of your vacation to report to us!!

Great info Doc. We just returned from one of those 160 point exchanges to Hawaii, and it was wonderful. The resort was the Kona Coast, and they also have a point system. A little different from Disney, but more similar than the others we have looked at. We are actually thinking about doing it.

Did the bobcat character sign autographs?

Thanks for the info, Doc! We are new BCV members and I keep looking at the budget, trying to come up with the money to pay for a 25 point add-on in cash. Guess I'd better come up with it soon!

What is the 5$ MB program?

$5 MB = $5 Magical Beginnings

The points are selling for $75 per point right now. If you pay the $75 you get your allottment of points for this year and every year until 2042.

If you choose the $5 MB incentive, you only pay $70 per point. However, you forfeit your first year's allottment of points back to them and don't get any points until your 2nd use year starts.

Hope this helps!

Hi everyone - the bobcat was just walking by and minding his or her own business when I spotted her/him within a few feet of my DH - who was checking out the golf course view near the building - it was yet another Disney experience I will never forget!

Sounds like the deal they had in April was better. They offered $5 off per point (making them $70 per point) and we still got our points for this year. I'm glad we got in while they were offereing that! I didn't realize it was such a good deal....we just sort of stumbled into this whole thing while we were on vacation last month.

It does seem strange though that the price keeps going up, yet the numer of 'use years' stays the same. Doesn't it seem like you paying more for less when you add on? Maybe I just don't fully understand this whole thing yet.

Well regardless, come October, we are booking our first DVC trip and we are excited!!!
