DVC Member Discount ending at Disney Store

You're not the first to report this but I'll bet you my car against yours that there was never any formal discount program for DD. Were you by chance paying with AMEX?

DVC has not taken anything away that is contractual. While I personally think WDW in general would be better off if they offered a far better discount package, there's no requirement for them to do so. Technically, all we bought was a stake in our home resort. I know we all looked at it as more and to a greater or lessor extent, relied on the Disney name and backing in our decision. Overall, the current discounts are to an extent as great as they've ever been if you exclude the passes used as purchase incentives. I personally think they should be more still but if they all go away tomorrow I'm still getting what I paid for.

When we 1st joined in 1994 we did get our DVC discount at the stores in DD. We also got 10% off with our MKC card.

I use to pick up Park Hopper Passes at the Disney Store and would get a 10% discount as a DVC Member. It's gone now. Other than the passes I hardly ever go in there.

Discount on the passes was never a benefit but it happened at DS from time to time, usually the same ones.

I know this was a DVC discount discussion, but just in case anyone was unaware, I was at World of Disney last month and was given an AP discount of 15% offf. I had not picked up a new AP sleeve with the discounts so I was unaware of this. I just asked if there was any discounts and the CM asked me if I had an AP, I showed it to him and he gave me 15% off.

Are you talking about showing your DVC member card and getting a discount, or the resort ID? I've gotten discounts by using the resort ID because it was tied into the AMEX card that we used to charge back to our room.

It had nothing to do with being DVC, but with being AMEX.

No one in the store had heard anything about the dvc discount ending. There were about 7 of us working. Must have just been a misunderstanding.

Please stop worrying ! I heard from a reliable DVC source that at this time there is no plan for the DVC discount to go away at the Disney Stores. I know from personal experience that some Disney Store Cast Member do confuse DVC with the Disney Club.
