Hey Everyone,

I am wondering how hard it will be to get a reservtion for a 2 bedroom villa for the Hilton Head resort 7 months prior? We re looking to go the last week of June 2022. Any insight will be helpful. Thank you.

As above. That is most demand season for HHI and lot of families want 2BR.
Have had my points there since 1996 so can book in summer.

HH has 76 dedicated 2BRs while having only 21 2BR lock-iffs that supply the studios and 1BRs. Though summer is HH's high demand season, the dedicated 2BRs (listed only as 2BRs in the reservation system) are many times open in the summer, although it can generally be hit or miss. Example: the 2BRs were still open for a week at 7-months out for the last week of June 2019 and 2020. So you have a chance. Nevertheless, covid has introduced the problem for 2022 that there may be members having a lot of extra points to use resulting from banking during the covid period and thus competition could be more severe than prior years.

Considering buying HHI or SSR. We always go (cash) to HHI in Sept or Oct. How hard is it to book 2 bedroom the fall (Sept or Oct) at the 7 month window? If it's easy, we may go with SSR. If its hard, like it is in summer months, we may have to go with HHI. Thanks for your reply.

HH can be difficult for a 2BR at 7 months out in Sep and Oct. Pre-pandemic, any particular week often had one to three random nights for 2BRs already booked full by 7-months out. Since reopening post-pandemic, it has been more like two to four nights (possibly a factor of members having excess banked points accumulated during the pandemic closure).

Pre-pandemic, SSR 2BRs were typically open at 7 months for most time in Sep and Oct, but some risk otherwise for the Thurs before Columbus Day to the weekend after Columbus Day. Since re-opening, it has become somewhat more difficult for a 2BR during Sep and Oct, probably due to members having excess banked points. A future risk, starting in 2023, is that Sep will become significantly more difficult to get because points needed for all Sep nights have been lowered to the lowest level of the year.

This is really, really helpful. Thank you. One point of clarification that is really important. Are you saying for 2023 Sept IS ALREADY lowered or it is a risk they MIGHT by lowered. When I look at the 2023 point charts (on several sites) it has Aug 28-Oct 31. Thank you again. Big help!

Is 1-bedroom any easier during summer?

LAX
Since there are roughly only 20 1 bedrooms, they are tough to get at 7 months in the summer. But you may have a chance if you stalk until last minute.

The studios there don't sleep 5, correct?

Studios at dhhir sleep 4. One bed and one pull out couch. But they are large studios.
That makes an interesting question with the upcoming renovations. I wonder whether part of the change will be to make the studios sleep 5. The one bedrooms can probably sleep 5 with the sleeper couch and the sleeper chair.

I heard dhhir are getting murphy beds and staying with 4 for studios. 5 for 1 bedrooms, 9 for 2 bedrooms, and 12 for grand villa.

When we did a Summer HHI trip, I rented the points from a HHI owner at eleven months and then rented out my points to cover it. We like HHI and go with our own points every few years - in February.

4 for studios is a bummer for us. While I appreciate the extra room in the 1-bedrooms, when point availability is tight, squeezing 5 into a studio would be a nice option.
